No lag, but certain key combinations didn’t work for fighting games
I purchased this to build a custom game controller for my son. We were building a custom HitBox style arcade controller for Windows 10 with 19 Sanwa buttons. We chose an encoder that emulated a keyboard vs a game controller because the game controller boards don’t have enough buttons for what we are creating. Since we are on a budget, we chose the model that supported 26 keys. The red and black cables that came with it fit on the Sanwa button contacts loosely, but snapped in and worked ok. They were nicely insulated at the button connector end. We only got about 10 cables, which was disappointing, so we we had to buy more. After we built it, we first tried it on Wordpad and all the keys seemed to work fine individually. When we tried it on various fighting games like Street Fighter, we noticed it didn’t work with certain button key combinations like left, down, space. All buttons worked individually, but in certain combinations, they didn’t. We tried this same key combination on the computer keyboard, and it worked fine, so we know it is the encoder board. We were able to map space as a different button in his game, which was a work around to make some key combinations work, but not all.The positive is that the board seemed to add no detectable latency or delay. Button presses seemed instantaneous. I want to return it, but since we couldn’t find any alternative controllers at this price point, we are going to just live with the limitations for now and custom map the space as a different button in the games he plays. I’m curious if the problem is only with this 26 key model board or if it is also a problem with the 104 key model. They didn’t offer the 104 key model on amazon prime with free returns so we didn’t want to risk buying it and have to pay the return shipping if it doesn’t work. If they fixed the problem with certain key combinations, I’d give this board a high rating, but since it didn’t quite work like a regular keyboard, I can only give 2 stars.

Great encoder board with quick response time and agnostic compatibility with windows OS
Really like this board and in general the boards this company makes. Solid performance, and does not appear to have any noticeable issues, but haven’t checked for input ghosting limits. Response time is my main concern for building custom VJ/Video controllers, and performs very quickly. Not a paid review.

Window doesn't recognize it
I bought this to use in my arcade control panel for the coin and player starts, the pinball flippers on the side and a rear button for the escape key. Windows does not recognize it and can't pull anything from the device.Tried to find drivers online but after an hour of searching, I gave up. I found plenty of the boards for sale on eBay and Alliexpress but no drivers nor instructions. I will just buy another EG STARTS board and remap the keys to it.

Fun product
My laptop recognized it as a joystick but my pc properly recognized it as a keyboard and worked great ... not sure if the price is high nothin to compare it to but you can buy a keyboard for 10$ complete with keys

Works great. Easy to use.
Works great. Was able to build a slot machine with this keyboard kit no instructions but easy enough to figure out.

Custom Keyboard anyone ?
This is basically the electronics for a standard USB keyboard, without the keys. It scans the switches you attach to it and sends the appropriate messages back to the computer. This opens up many posibilities.Obviously you could build your own standard keyboard.Or you could build a subset of keys used in a particular game in the exact layout you want.Or a custom set of keys for that CAD program or desktop publishing program you use.Or a media control station using just the media control functions with whatever other keys you might need. With just a little more electronics you could have a rotary encoder as a volume control. Think of a keyboard with a volume control knob. The switches could be any type of switch so the keys might be customised to allow a disabled person to use a computer (or play a game using a subset of the full keyboard). Things like pressure switches, microswitches, foot switches, tilt switches or even a rotary encoder (with a little extra electronics). Customised to a person's particular capabilities. There are many posibilities. This is good.

Got a game that doesnt support game controllers? This has you covered.
The keyboard encoder is a perfect project board for building your own user interface using keyboard encoding so that it is supported by any device. Just build your dream user interface, be it buttons or joysticks, plug the wire from the microswitch into the relevant keyboard button on the encoder and you are in business.
