Is this machine suitable for german shepherd dog and standard poodle?

I don't see why not. It has enough power for sure. The nozzle is like the ones used in salons. Definitely go on youtube and watch how to dry your dog correctly. The right distance, keeping it moving etc. so you don't damage their skin or coat. If you are too close, you can even bruise their muscles underneath the skin. good luck!

Will this dryer be suitable for a toy poodle?

It will work for a toy poodle. I would hold the nozzle back a little bit because it can put out some force.

Our hose keeps coming off at the machine end. Followed instructions for reattaching and glue. Any ideas?

I don’t have that problem at all. I use this product every week on my 3 dogs and never had the hose come off. Maybe you received a faulty product. Get a hold of the seller and see if they can give you a new hose

how much does it weigh?

I'm going to guess and say apx 10lbs. I highly recommend this blow dryer, it dries my golden retriever in under an hour.
