I Regret Purchasing This Item
This device allegedly can be used on wire sizes .014 to .032. I bought it to use on Malin .029 wire. The EZ Twist was useless. There are very few human beings on this planet that have the hand grip strength to hold it and twist .029 wire. I tried putting it in a vice but the pins were too short to handle the wire thickness. I found a YouTube video in which a guy demonstrated how to twist the wire with an electric drill with an L Hook Bolt in the chuck. He had also made a special rig for the wire but I just used a vice. Save your money.

Don't get frustrated!
Initially this tool frustrated me to no end, the direction pictures are hot trash, the video is grainy, but if you watch it enough you will see three key things you have to do to get this tool to work. The first, you have to make the initial bents perfectly. Make sure the leading tag end you first bent is perpendicular to the slot, this will alleviate the issue of the wire not fitting into the little mushroom on the other side. Second, make sure the wire goes over the first bend and is pushed to about 45-60 degrees (more toward 60 was better for me). Lastly, I never unlock the tool I just throw the tag end through the hole then place the 60 degree tag farthest away from you with and push the loop into the tool. This should lock that tag end into that mushroom (you should be able to let go and it just stays). Now put the allen key into the opening and slowly turn and it should work for you at that point. Hope this helps someone else out. Just take your time with the initial bends and it should work fine.

This tool is great!
Great product, watch the video so you know how to use it properly. Very durable all metal construction.

Kinda works but not for me
I guess you could say it works, the photo is my second and probably last attempt at it. Problem is, I bought it to finish up lures and secure hooks on, which cannot be done with this tool, as the shift has to be in the tool in order for it to work. I saw a bench top tool that looked pretty simple to use, I'm going to research it instead.

Does NOT work well with stainless steel wire
Although I was able to make it work, its small size was very hard on the finger tips. Once you get the hang of it, you can create the loop and barrel twist using soft wire. But it is nearly impossible to consistently get a clean barrel twist using stainless steel wire. It’s much easier to use pliers because it is extremely hard to hold the tag end of the wire with enough tension and at a right-angle to the tool while trying to twist the loop end using the Allen Wrench. I found this to be the case with both 20 and 22 gage SS wire. I was more successful and consistent with 24 gage stainless steel wire or 20 gage aluminum welding wire. Since there are easier and better ways to get the job done, I don’t think it is worth the relatively high price. I do plan to keep it though, to use with light-weight wire projects. But for my 20 gage SS leaders, I am using a 1.5 mm Beadsmith One Step Looper to create the initial loop (you can avoid cutting the end off the wire by starting with the looper halfway closed) and then making the barrel wrap (twist) with pliers. For me, and when using stainless steel wire, this is more consistent and much easier on my hands/fingers.

Spend a bit more and get a bench top wire former.
I was very excited for this tool as I have inherited all of the supplies to build some lures however the tool broke on first use.
