Perfect gift for dragon lovers!
Grandsons LOVE this book! They are both huge How To Train Your Dragon fans and often refer to this book to help identify what they are seeing on the screen. They also use it to choose their dragon when they are using their imaginations and playing together.

Good book great pictures not cheaply made and fun.
I was actually hoping tgis was going to be like the one put of the movie, vut it is bases on the books. It is actually a riot to read and interesting what Hiccup went through for his book. Very thorough and some scary pictures but overall a good book and even at my age I enjoy it. I collect silly dragons for my displays at car shows to make people and children laugh as well as myself, see I have several illnesses with no cure. And I need the laughter too and to make someone's day, sgow them the car the talking dragons and now I have added some of Hiccup's dragons. The children love it.

Hasn't put it down since Christmas.
When we checked it out from the library, we realized how well-liked this book was because about 8 pages were falling out. Had to return it so we didn't make it worse, so my 6-year-old daughter got it at Christmas and pretty much hasn't put it down since. There's a lot of scripty writing, so your kiddo has to be okay reading that. Was also a great transition to the Cowell "HTTYD" books. Before reading this one, daughter was more interested in the movie version of things. But since picking this up and learning about ALL the dragons and seeing it more in the original context, she's started eating up the books. I get taught a lot more about dragons than I ever thought possible.

Book has General Info on Lots of Dragons
This is a thick book and the quality of it is very nice. My son is obsessed with the movies, so I ordered this. We have only read the first book in the series. Perhaps there is no Night Fury in the books because this book didn’t have one. My son was hoping to learn more info about Toothless and was a bit disappointed. That isn’t the reason for 4 stars though. There are many dragons in this book, I guess we were hoping for a bit more info on each one. Every dragon shows numerical ratings and the sections are arranged by type, but there isn’t too much of a description for each one, and it’s a bit tricky to find the exact dragon you’re looking for. We are keeping the book bc my son does enjoy looking through it and the drawings are kind of cool.

Great
My child is a How To Train Your Dragon fan and this book was begged for for Christmas. She absolutely devoured it and reread it several times. She enjoyed adding it to her Dragon Bookshelf. I highly recommend it for any other HTTYD fans.

My son LOVES this book
My wife and I have read through this book at least 4 times at this point. He loves learning about all the dragons, the pictures and diagrams are really fun, and he really likes when the dragons aren't listening or have crazy powers. It's written as if Hiccup is keeping a journal so sometimes there are normal pages and others are "hand written" with drawings and notes and diagrams about the dragons. One of my sons favorite books as it almost always stays out on his dresser instead of getting put away.
