So far so good. Very happy.
This is probably the best deal for a blood ketone meter out there. The build quality seems solid enough and it includes 50, thats right FIFTY, test strips. The refills are about 20 bucks cheaper than the other brands and also come in a 50 pack.I have done a few tests and one one 'control' test with the included control fluid and have had no problems at all.It includes everything you need to get started:Of course, the blood ketone meter50 test stripsCode chip (make sure the number on it matches the number on the container the strips are in)control fluid (this is to test your meter to make sure it is properly calibrated, not something you will use often but is good to have so you know your readings are accurate)10 lancets (these can be reused in the included lancet holder, obviously don't go around sharing used ones with others)1 lancet holder (this is nicer than I expected and has adjustable depths to reduce any discomfort, it is very gentle on the lower settings)2 disc batteries (insert them both in the back under that hatch)A solid enough carrying case with spaces for everything.A decently written instruction manual and other documentation. My only real negative on this is that the screen is not backlit. It is very clear and easy to read but I have poor low light vision and would have liked a backlight. It doesn't have any bluetooth features either but that is not a big deal to me, that stuff usually is too gimmicky to be useful.I would skim the manual first but I will give a brief overview of the setup:Insert the batteries in the back and put the battery cover back on.Don't press any buttons yetWith it off Insert the code chip in the side, it can only fit one way. With it sill off Insert test strip into the meter (there are arrows to show you which end to insert)The screen should turn itself on and display the same number from the code chip and the test strip vialThis has the strips set up with the meter. (You can check the calibration with the included solution, I will explain below)Now you need to set the time and date. For inputs the left "<" button changes the number and the right ">" button acts like an "enter" key.If it doesn't start blinking 24h/12h when you press a button, eject the test strip(don't lose it, you can use it to check calibration or for your first test) and try again. The 24h/12h is if you want military (24h) time or standard (12h)Next, in the top right you will see some numbers(they confused me at first then I realized they are the year) Set it to the current year with the < button and confirm it with the >You will do the day/month next, < to change and > to confirm/enterNext set the time, same controls as beforeThe order is a little hazy now but I believe next was the "beep" option which adds beeps to the testing(I find it useful, you may not)If it recall correctly, next you will see a loaf of break and the word "off". That is the meal marker, check the manual for more information. I believe you can use it to makr your results with a before or after meal notation but I haven't looked into it yet. After the is a timer selector, you can choose the number of timers you want (I personally wont use that feature at this time)I think that's it, if you see anything else check the manual.I promise it is not hard to do, it may look like a lot here but I was just trying to be thorough and break it down to baby steps. The quick instructions are: put in the batteries; put in code chip; put in strip, make sure the number on the test strip vial, control chip, and the number on the screen match; set the date/time.(Optional but probably a good idea to do, I did it)Testing calibration:Insert a test strip, the unit should turn onShake up control solution, throw away first dripPlace one drop on glass or other nonabsorbent surface( It is sticky red stuff)Hold the tip of the test strip (still inserted into the meter) to the drop of control solution. The strip will 'drink' it up and a countdown from 9 will begin. It will also beep at this point if you turned on the beep option. When it counts down it will display results. If you look on the test strip vial there should be a range of numbers for CTRL 1 (2.7-4.1)and CTRL 2(4.7-7.1). Assuming you have a '1' on your vial of solution just make sure your results fall anywhere within the range of 2.7-4.1 and you have verified that your meter is properly calibrated.Eject the test strip and you are all set!Testing you ketones is about the same as using the control solution. The only difference being that you hold the tip of it to the blood droplet on your finger rather than the drop of control solution.I am assuming most of you are on a pure ketogenic or low-carb diet the same as myself. I also recommend you look into fasting or intermittent fasting. It is a great compliment to keto diets ans brings in a large array of added health benefits, lowering of cancer risk, recycling/detoxifying your system, and more. It is safe and natural and the benefits cannot be overstated.Good luck to whatever path you're taking towards being the best you possible. Stay on track and you will achieve your goals. I always appreciate feedback, if you would like to let me know you found this helpful I would really appreciate it.Thanks for reading

Buy it!
I read previous reviews which led me to almost not purchase this device. Luckily, I decided to give it a shot anyway. At first, I had a tiny bit of trouble trying to figure it out but was able to quickly get the hang of it after reading the instructions. I have given it quite some time before reviewing, as to give it time to see an "error" on the test strips as others have reported. Never once have I encountered this problem. It requires a small amount of blood and reads perfectly in 10 seconds. As long as you have the tab inserted in the side of the meter that comes with the test strips, and make sure the number that shows on the tab matches the numbers on the strips, then also reads the same once the strip is inserted before adding blood, you are golden. Works like a charm and extremely affordable compared to others.

First one was a dud, replacement one great
At first I was pleased. But then the results seemed random so I did several tests back to back and got wildly different results. I then used the control solution on three strips in a row and again the results were highly inconsistent. Not accurate. I have a replacement coming so hopefully it will be better.Update*I received a replacement and it functions perfectly. My sister has this same meter and hers works well too. I am please with the hasle free exchange.

No backlight, need large blood drop, but good value.
The kit was a very good value. I had been checking out these items for a while and had time to compare prices. this one was overall the best price. Very accurate, as I tested it several times with the urine sticks, and it was smack-dab exactly where it said it was. The only things I found wrong were the lack of a backlight making it hard to read in a low light, and it takes a very large drop of blood in comparison to my blood glucose meter. I am an expert in checking blood as I have T2 diabetes and am also on some medications that affect blood levels. My glucose meter does have a light to see by in the middle of the night, and takes a relatively infinitesimally small drop of blood.

Easy to use but I get error code a lot more then I would like
I get error code about every other strip I use, but the price of the strips make it worth while. Over all I found it easy to use

Couldn’t be easier...
I find it hard to believe so many people have issues with this. The first thing I did was to read the manual, not the quick start guide but the thicker manual. Everything you need to know is in there. I then followed through with the manual for my first test. It is surprisingly simple and I have never used any type of blood test meter before. I can’t make any statement to its accuracy but the results I am getting are logical and consistent with the number of days I have been doing keto. That is, the first test I was 3 days in and I measured .3. The fourth day I was a .4 etc. I have an increment of .1 every day so I am happy with this meter.

Works Great When Directions Followed
Needed an alternative to KetoMojo since they changed models and made their previous device obsolete (will not buy the new model on principle). This meter works great - you just need to be sure to follow the directions and wait for the prompt before adding your blood sample (there will be a flashing picture of a test strip next to a drop of blood).I have not wasted one single test strip - the meter has performed flawlessly every single time and the price for the meter and additional test strips was the lowest I could find at the time.

Highly Recommend, Great Value
Easy to use. Reliable and I’ve had no problems ordering test strips. I purchased in March 2021. The only time I get an error reading is when I don’t follow the directions. You need to hold it upright and hold your drop of blood on top of strip so it can flow down the capillary tube in the test strip. I really like the design of the lancet plunger. Pain free for the most part and once you wipe off blood drop it’s like you never pricked your finger because the puncture is so small.
