Great fun with kids, if a bit messy
I bought this for my nephew's 5th birthday. It was a huge hit.Note that you will need a big pot or bucket to dunk the wand in. We included a bucket as part of our gift to my nephew. This is super easy to use, and my 5 year-old nephew and his 4 year-old neighbor were able to use it successfully after watching adults use it for a few minutes. The secret to really long bubbles is to open the slider as you start to make the bubble but then close the slider to "pinch off" the bubble and allow it to float away. If you don't close the slider, the bubble will just stay on the wand until it pops. We were able to get 3-4 large bubbles per "dunk" of the wand in the bubble pot. We had fun using a bubble gun to blow little bubbles inside of the giant bubbles and. After a few attempts, were able to pull giant bubbles down over the children (so they were inside the bubbles until they popped), which delighted the kids.Be sure kids playing with this are in "play" clothes-- they will be covered in soapy residue from chasing and popping the bubbles. This is definitely something you should do outside. I do not recommend playing with this near a pool deck or other surface where the ground being slippery would present a safety hazard. Please note that the included bubble mix is only part of what is needed to make the bubble solution-- you will also need to add 1 cup of dish soap per batch of bubble mix. I did not realize this in advance and was grateful my sister let us use the last cup of dish soap she had in the house.

Fantastic fun bubbles
The media could not be loaded. There was a quick learning curve to figure out the best manipulation but what fun!! I followed the recipe and added glycerine to the mix. Found that recipe on internet. Adults liked this too. I used on a mildly windy day and watched the wind do magic with these bubbles but any day not raining should be doable.Family fun time!

Fun!
The media could not be loaded. I had one of these in the late 80s. Glad to see its still being made. It comes with a small bottle of bubble solution. Google recipes for big lasting bubbles

Use distilled water if you don’t have good tap water.
I struggled to get this to work. I watched a few videos on making bubble solution and several said to use distilled water. As soon as I stopped using our hard tap water, it worked. We made huge bubbles, but I struggled to “close” the bubble. So by the end of our super long bubble it would just pop. This was only the first day messing with it, so I’m hopeful I will get better at it.I also read to add baking powder to the mix and it help lower the ph. Which I guess helps with bubble making.Google has some different recipes I would like to try as well.Glycerin, guar gum, etc.

The "Bubble Thing" is very intuitive and easy to use
I purchased the "Bubble Thing" just in time for our local Easter egg hunt. I mixed up one gallon of bubble solution and put it in a 5 gallon resealable container, thinking that I could save the unused solution for the next time. Little did I know that the biggest bubbles that I had ever made in my life would be the hit of the party. The "Bubble Thing" is very intuitive and easy to use. Reading the book helps you better understand how to make big bubbles, but it is not absolutely necessary. In addition to the children loving the bubbles, the adults did too. When I got tired of making bubbles, there was no shortage of volunteers to step in an continue making them. The gallon pain pail of bubble solution was gone in less than a hour. I do recommend bringing a clean towel/washcloth with some water if you are making giant bubbles near children. They love to play with, chase and pop the bubbles. But the volume of bubble solution in each bubble is very large, and quite often a bubble popper will end up getting some in their eyes, hence the need for clean towels and water. You will be amazed with the bubbles this simple thing can make!

MUCH Better than other bubble wands
Have used this style wand and the cheaper, more common wand with two moveable sticks. This wand has one fixed part of the loop and one moveable part of the loop. This style is far, far, better than the competitor's. They look similar, but this one makes huge bubbles effortlessly. Go with this one!

They are very cool, and IN THE RIGHT ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
I recently purchased three Bubble Things for my festival bubble station setups. They are very cool, and IN THE RIGHT ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS, produce great bubbles. Since buying these, I have made my own simple home-made tri-string wands which work much better, but if you don't feel like getting crafty, this is a great bubble tool. I've also tested out many giant bubble recipes including the Big Bubble Instant Powder. Again, this product is OK, but not nearly as great as my home made recipe. The Bubble thing is a fun, bright color. The sliding mechanism is too hard for little kids to use, and they tend to drag the strings on the ground, but for bigger kids and adults, this wand is a lot of fun! The only con is that these wands use up lots of bubble solution very quickly. I recommend this product to friends.
