The Replacements

I cannot tell you how much you need to see this film! I am a non-sport playing/watching female and I loved it, it should never have gone straight to video, its a classic, It is hilarious in parts, cheerleading try-outs & locker room scenes are some of my many favourite parts of this film, the romance side of it is played out perfectly,the charactors are believable and real, you really find yourself rooting for them all. You dont need to have even the slightest understanding of American Football just an appreciation for a fantastic film. I was beside myself when it came out on DVD (I had it originally on VHS)and have recommended it and lent it out on a fair few occasions now and I have yet to hear anything less that "Brilliant, loved it" from anyone how has seen it! Watch it, its worth it.

I had never heard of this film but after reading reviews thought I would take a chance. Did not know what to expect and was pleasantly surprised as it turned out to be a gem with good comedy. The story of professional sportsmen going on strike with owners and managers having to find replacement players. Will not tell you more as may spoil your enjoyment if you buy it, which you should and give yourself a treat.

Good old times.

I bought this because of previous reviews. The story is predictable but none the worse for that. Reeves is always good value and his character is a decent enough chap (playing a similar role to that he made his own in 'Point Break'). The swearing means it will not be ok for the family to watch, not under twelves certainly. The soundtrack is really excellent and the quality of the DVD is fairly remarkable too. The football footage is beautiful. Some smiles and a few laughs too. Another one to keep and revisit. 7/10

Very funny film, excellent acting by all concerned. Mind, I will watch anything with Rhys Ifans! The cheer-leader sequences are great, oh to be that supple! Keanu Reeves great too. Feeling a bit down? Watch the film, you wont be for long!!

Funny, several twists, and a cast of stars that really works... Only downside cover printed in Dutch?

Could've sworn I already owned this, oh well decided to buy it again, and at a great price. Probably my favorite football film, even more than the Waterboy or The Longest Yard remake. It's got comedy, heart, and a great cast, and deep meaning. If I do find my previous purchase, then I will have a replacement, pun intended

Great disc

Hatte mir den Film bereits vor vielen Jahren angeschaut. Er verliert nie an Charme und Witz. Und nun zu Ehren von dem verstorbenen Gene Hackman kam er endlich als Bluray heraus. Habe ihn mir natürlich gleich gekauft und natürlich nicht bereut. Sehr empfehlenswert !
