AWESOME!!
This is an awesome bass that sounds great and has everything you need to start playing as soon as you get it out of the box. The only disappointment I have is the tuner did not work. It looks like the wires to the battery were loose. That can be an easy fix if you know how to solder. I already had another tuner, so it was not a problem for me. I have read on several other reviews that the tuner did not work as well, so I think that Fender needs to take a look at these tuners and correct the issues, but other than that it is a great package. This is my first bass guitar and man is it cool! The Rumble 15 Bass Amplifier sounds great, the headphones are of good quality, the gig bag seems pretty good but I've only used it one time and the instructional DVD will have you learning the notes and playing some licks within 30 min. I suggest that you find some songs that you know on u-tube and play along with the notes. I also found a really good website [...], that you can search for nearly any song and choose your instrument and play along. Overall the package is a great buy for $299. I reviewed several bass guitars and it was between the Fender bass and an Ibanez and I went with the Fender package because it was a complete package and was convenient to order through Amazon...and arrived within 5 days. I had gifts cards to Amazon also. I have never played bass before, (a little on acoustic) but I can tell you that the bass is much easier to learn and play. So if your looking to get something that looks good and sounds good and does not cost too much, this one is great. Just be prepared for the tuner to not work.

WARNING: Don't use the gig bag shoulder strap!!! Good bass and amp, headphones are nonfunctional
What a great deal to get started on bass! The bass is perfect for a beginner than me, and the practice amp that comes with it sounds a lot better than I expected. The only reason I'm giving this 4 stars instead of 5 is because the headphones that came with it don't function at all. It's not worth the hassle of sending all this back and having to wait another couple weeks to get another bass. Disappointing, though, as I had plans for those headphones.UPDATE: I have removed another star because the shoulder strap that came with the gig bag broke the second time I used it. This resulted into my bass falling on the floor. Luckily, there isn't any apparent damage to the bass, but this is unacceptable. WARNING: the gig bag is a cheap piece of junk. Do not rely on the shoulder strap (or any of the straps or handles) to actually support the weight of this bass safely. I've attached a picture of the broken strap. You can see that the point of failure was where the strap connects to the gig bag at the top. Surprisingly it wasn't the super cheap plastic hooks that attach the strap to the connector. The only reason I'm still giving this 3 stars is that the bass and amp are nice for the price. Just don't trust that gig bag.

Great bass for the price
This was the first bass I bought for myself. I did a lot of research on entry level basses before I made my decision. I decided on this one because of fender's proven track record for quality. I was not disappointed. This is an amazing quality bass for what you pay for it. Very solid and sounds great. Correct action/fret height. No buzzing. Easy to play. Looks good. The pickups sound excellent. I have since upgraded to an American fender and a Japan fender and of course those exceed the squier in just about everything. However I still own my squier as it is still a great instrument and I still play it. I would definitely recommend this to anyone starting out on the bass and not wanting to spend a lot of money.

Nice bass for the price
This arrived yesterday. I was fully aware that this was an Indonesia made guitar and understood the potential quality issues of a budget guitar. That said, this bass is pretty decent. The neck is smooth and straight, the tuners work fine, and the pickups sound surprisingly good for being low end budget types. What I didn't like is the finish. The picture represents a solid butterscotch finish, and not just on amazon but on the box it came in. Yet the bass itself is a transparent butterscotch finish. Now, that's not really my gripe, as when done right transparent finishes look great. But the lower quality wood in this budget bass really stands out, as one of the glued pieces of wood is noticeably darker, and detracts from the overall visual. The cheap solid black pickguard also was scratched even with the protective film on it. No biggie, I already had a replacement ready to go for that, as you'll see in the pictures (the black guard was replaced with a bronze peraloid which I think works well with the finish). Also the bridge, while being similar to a Fender vintage style, has adjustment screws of such different lengths, even on the same saddle, that it just looks and feels a bit sloppy. Again, I knew the possible quality issue with that and already ordered an after market replacement. And be prepared to put better quality strings on. The Fender basic strings are okay for the beginner but lack punch. But they do tune up nicely once the bridge is set up.The amp is quite adequate, sounds great, just wish it had some additional gain and punch, but it's good for practice. The Fender guitar cable is good quality. But the shoulder strap is too small for an adult. I'm 6ft tall and fully let out the bass still sits too high on my waist to play comfortable. So you might need a longer, more adjustable strap. But the one provided, though small, is good quality. I gave it to my 11yo son for his guitar. The gig bag is decent, with a semi-plush lining and some padding. Good enough for storage under your bed and maybe taking it to the car, but that's about all.Overall, decent quality for the price for a beginner or someone wanting a lower end practice unit.

Excelent little bass & amp combo
Excelent little bass & amp combo. the strap sucks, good if your a smaller person. Reccomend getting one of the many guitar straps with this package, the perri's leather ones are great, and one of the mugig cables with a 90 degree end on it (the fender one is 2 straight ends on it).
