Favorite candle of all time
Are these candles rather pricey? Yes. Are they worth it? Yes! I am in love with the smokey, woody fragrance here. Diptyque makes a quality candle like few others. The fragrance is strong and fills the room in a beautiful way. It is important to burn the candle properly, as to maintain even burning and to eliminate the accumulation of black soot on the rim. Speaking of, the glass containers are beautiful, so be sure to recycle and repurpose them.

Overrated & Overpriced
For such a highly priced and rated candle, I was overwhelmingly disappointed. However, I should have know with the soy wax. It had an okay scent. It was definitely not wood burning, though. Additionally, it did not last as long as others claimed it did. That is also likely due to the soy wax. I'd say I was robbed, but I chose to take the risk despite the soy wax.

I have to agree with one reviewer who said the scent of this candle is something like wood-burning fireplace. Unique smell, never smelled another candle that had such a scent. It has good throw in my apartment, and even when the candle is not burning, I can catch a whiff of its scent just walking by it. I accidentally bought another candle with the same "Feus de Bois" name (but it was by LAFCO http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002QFXL4O/ ). Don't confuse these two candles! Yes, they have the same scent name, but to me the LAFCO brand "Feus de Bois" smells more like a fir tree (which is nice, but I really wanted the "wood burning fireplace" scent). So after buying the LAFCO brand "Feus de Bois" candle, I then bought the Diptyque brand of "Feus de Bois" and upon opening its box, I said "Yes! THIS is the scent I was looking for!" I cringe at the price of this candle, especially since it's not a huge-size like the LAFCO candle at a similar price, but I justify paying for this Diptyque candle because I love the scent and have not found any candle with such a great unique scent.

Essence of winter in a candle
Scent is such an individual preference. I love this candle--it smells of fireplaces and snow and cold--all the things I miss living in SoCal. I think the aroma is exactly the right degree of smoky. I did have to "first burn" it for about two hours to really notice the scent. But now it fills the room after about 15 minutes. I will most definitely purchase another.
