Sauder Orchard Hills Computer Desk, Carolina Oak finish

This is the second product I bought from Sauder. Both were high quality with very detailed easy to follow instructions. Great products for a very fair price. I must say the assembly is a major project, but very doable. I’m 77 and was able to easily assemble it myself. Highly recommended.

This is a great desk. It’s very sturdy, so I hope it lasts for many, many years. It did take about four hours for my husband to put it together. But it was very well worth it when he was done.

I purchased this for use in a bedroom both to hold a TV and to use as a laptop docking station. It is perfectly adequate for the task, and looks alright in the space, but that's about as far as I'll go.Assembly: When it arrived, the box was extremely heavy. I was putting it upstairs, and I had to open the box and carry the pieces up individually. The assembly took a long time, but wasn't terribly difficult. You do need to be careful not to accidentally punch out the large perforated block in the back panel, designed for a tube TV to stick out the back.It isn't expensive, and it shows. Besides the typical flimsy back panel, some of the front pieces don't fit as precisely as I would expect. Nothing that anyone is likely to notice if they haven't just spent a hour or two assembling it, though.The real downside to this is the size. I'm sure the dimensions are exactly what the specs say, but that doesn't give you a real feel for what you're getting. The shelves have very little depth. For example, even a tiny new Blu Ray player barely fits on the shelf above the TV. If you want to put a typical full-sized cable box there, forget it. Likewise, the side shelves are not only shallow, but they're quite narrow. If you want to use this with a printer or have a place to put a laptop, there's a wider version of this same item that would better suit that use.

Very nice desk. I'm 69 and assembled it by myself. Very easy instructions. Every piece is marked. It took me about 4 hours. It was well worth the backache. It's very sturdy and rich looking. I bought it through Amazon and saw the same exact desk going for up to $300+ in other stores. I highly recommend it.

I ordered this for my self because I do alot of faxing for my mother. And I print a lot of pictures. I wanted something where I could put my computer and somewhere I could keep my mother's paperwork and it is perfect. It is made very well with a drawer and cabinet and pull out shelf and other shelves to sit things. Now I can keep my my stuff and my mother's thighs separate and I can go straight to it when I need something.

Thought this desk was going to be both easy to install and sturdy. This was not the case because I spent between five and seven hours (fist alone, then with help) trying to reconstruct this desk. The tools they provide you with our very cheap and not durable. The instructions provided for the installation are heavily confusing, which doesn’t make it easily accessible for beginners. While assembling this desk, the wood that was provided was extremely flimsy and cracked easily. The drawers don’t even close properly, they get stuck half way through then down open back up. Waist of money, high price for a cheap product. Very disappointed and will not recommend for others.

Construction:It took me about 3-4 hours to make it by myself (30 year old male). There was only one step that was difficult on my own, but the rest was fairly simple. I do recommend reading every page twice before you do anything instructed on said page, I accidentally tightened something before I was supposed too. I also recommend having a ratcheting screwdriver (they're ~$12 on this website), it will really make this easier and go a lot faster.Pros:- Looks great- Lots of shelves, the two the right can be easily raised or loweredCons:- As you can see from some of the uploaded photos, almost every piece came slightly damaged. Luckily, most of the damaged spots don't show from looking at it, except the examples in the uploaded photos. Not sure if this standard quality for this product, but I feel like I got the "lemon" of desks from the factory. This is the only reason I lowered the rating to three stars.-The desk could be a little deeper, but that's kind on me for not getting a larger desk.*Books, laptop, sunglasses, etc. are not included with desk.

Pay extra attention on size!!! I looked mostly on picture and when received this deck was extremely dissapointed. The deck is very small and lower,suitable for small kids onlyWaste of money and time
