Q: Are the posts strong enough and wide enough to also serve as garden hose guides to protect plants, decorations, and prevent kinking around corners?

The posts are sturdy but they are connected to plastic stakes that insert into the ground. I honestly would not risk damage by using it as a hose guide as they were not designed for that use. Also, the hose may knock the top light part off it it were to hit it. The lights are fantastic though.

Q: Is each light a color or do they all change colors?

There are two of each color as shown. They do not change colors.

Q: how tall is the entire unit

They are the standard size - the ones you would get in the dollar store, but they are made better and they have a turn off switch and you can charge the battery when needed. The colors are really pretty. I used a couple for the summer and I packed them up in the garage, so I can not get the true measurements right now. Also, they stayed good all summer and I did not have to change the batteries . I put them on in July until Mid-October.

Q: How far apart can you place these lights and they still look good?

I've been waiting for the green POLLEN to go away soooooooo I haven't put them out yet, will be soon. My guess...A foot & a half or so from experience 🌻
