Perfect kids camp dishes
Perfect set for camp. I couldn't have found anything better for my daughter's day camp. The materials were high quality. The set contains every piece that you could need and it all packs up nicely within itself. I will surely buy again when my son goes to camp.

Awesome simple mess kit
I absolutely love this mess kit. I ordered this one for a couple of reasons: the color, the cup, the two-piece utensils (I don’t care for the one end spoon/one end fork), and the reviews regarding the grippy ring. The only downside was that the bungee tether developed a split in it soon after, whether through defect or my own folly I’m not sure. The manufacturer (ucogear.com) has an excellent and prompt container service team that sent me a new tether. Seven months later I received a second kit through a subscription box. I was a bit jealous of it since it had built in latches to keep the two sides together. I brought them both on a recent hot springs glamping trip with my partner, and (unsurprisingly) the functionality was pretty much the same. Both products make for sturdy, lightweight bowl/plates (we used them for salads) that I’d trust with the included cutlery but wouldn’t take a steak-knife to. We had leftovers, and were able to store them with our salads in the closed kits - this is where I was envious of the latches. We opted to keep them in the car while we soaked, and this was where I realized that my version (this one I’m reviewing) does indeed have a grippy textured ring on it, as opposed to the one I gave my partner which is all the same plastic - mine was more stable on the dash than his, which tried to slide off. All in all, I’m super stoked about this mess kit, and keep it with my car-camping gear.

Held up great
Bought two sets, the blue and orange for my boyfriend and I. We set off on a trip to Colorado with no time frame to come back to home-base to, so we put the money down to get reusable dishes. It saved us money and time and trash, not having to go and buy paper/plastic throwaway products. They don’t take up a lot of space, once you clean everything, you can collapse the mug, put it between the plates and tie the rubber band across, which has the spoon and fork attached. The only issue I had was that the instant coffee I had almost every morning, stained the inside of my blue mug. Other than that, everything held up well and the two plates (one acts as a bowl because it is a little deeper than the other) sealed well, although we didn’t have to seal liquids inside (just dry food). Perfect for us and lasted us through our rough outdoorsy trip of two months!! Totally recommend if you don’t want to waste money and space on throw-away products!

No 1 cup measuring line in cup. Not great for scouts.
This is a nice kit, and I would give it 5 stars, but they missed one of the most helpful features that many of the mess kits I have seen have. Even the cheapest mess kits typically have a 1/2 and 1 cup measuring line on the inside of the cup. It doesn't add any weight and I'm sure many people don't even know it's there. When you are trying to pack light and plan on cooking, this feature is endlessly helpful. Not a big deal if you are car camping, but my troop (like many) typically hikes in and we ALWAYS use one of the mess kits cups to measure water (or occasionally other ingredients) for cooking. Essentially this rules out this kit for many scouts or hikers who would otherwise use this handy feature. I can't imagine this would add much cost to the production of this kit. Heck, they could slightly modify the line where the color changes in the cup to be 1/2 cup without any additional cost and then note it on the packing. It's already pretty close. Perhaps with a minor update they could add this feature and I would be happy to upgrade the review to five stars for the newer version.

Great buy
Just what your Scout needs in the woods. Since we do a lot of camping with our boys they needed something compact and useable. Very reliable no metal to rust and includes all your utensils. Great buy.

Son and husband loved them
My husband and eight-year-old son recently went on their first camping trip with the Cub Scouts. Since I haven’t camped in a looooong time and they’re newbies, they needed supplies. This mess kit was just right for their needs. The mess kit was light weight and durable enough to withstand my son. He was able to expand/contract the cup on his own and put together the mess kit. I wish the silverware could be fully contained inside the kit, but we’re extremely pleased otherwise. To help keep everything contained, able to easily dry, and reduce touchpoints with the silverware, we atored everything in fine mesh laundry bags that one would use for delicates/bras. Oh! And let it be known that cost-wise, these are some of the cheaper mess kits. I felt like an old woman fussing about prices while pricing mess kits in the store and online.

Quality camp kit
Love these mess kits. They are great for camping and scouting events. They are easy to use, and store. I love the silicone band to hang all of it up to dry after washing up at camp. I use the lid as the plate and the bottom as a bowl. The cup expands for a decent amount adequately mix a hot chocolate packet with room to spare. The handle of the cup makes it easy to use.

Love it
I used this for camping recently. I was worried about how small it was but I was able to put a whole corn cob on it without too much overhang. The knife was pretty sharp. I forgot how to put the silverware with the container how it was supposed to but ended up making up my own way to do it. I was a tad worried about how strong the cup would be but it was really sturdy. It was a bit hard to pop out and in though. I’m not sure if the string will come out of the bowl and plate completely but it didn’t really get in the way. I ended up not using the bowl but it is a good deepness for soup. I haven’t had to use the hanging string so I can’t speak for that. Its a bit thicker than I thought it would be but still very travel friendly. I only used it for camping but I imagine it would work fairly well for other types of travel. Over all I love them.
