Although this edition is more expensive than the first edition, the added, expanded, and corrected materials are well worth the increased cost. This edition is a comprehensive and rigorous guide to the physics of the space environment, well-suited to upper-level undergraduate or first-year graduate students in space systems, space weather, or space physics. Most or all of the exercises from the first edition make encore appearances, but new problems are added as well. Expanded explanations and added figures make the textbook more readable, and added chapters on the formation of the universe and the measurement of time address frequently-asked questions in physics. In all, this edition is a solid successor to the first edition and should be a welcome addition to any space-related library or curriculum.

Not worth the time or the money
The sections are poorly organized, fails to fully explain some concepts or assumptions within the text, and is sometimes outright wrong. There are incorrect equations, incorrect answers provided to the practice questions, and incorrect values given for known quantities in practice questions. Then, there is the ridiculously high price tag for a book that does not live up to the quality.

Provides a technical approach to space environment. Problem sets are riddled with errors which is frustrating. Problem sets also leave a lot to the imagination.
