Incredible. Huge improvement from store-bought kits
I don't typically review products... To be more accurate, this is the first review I've written after being an Amazon customer for years. That said, this is the first product that was far enough above my expectations to really make me want to write a review. For those who this review is too long for, please note: the first portion is not about this product, but about the product I originally purchased in store that this product replaced in order to provide a comparison. The very end of this review is actually about this particular product.A year and a half to two years ago, I received a store-bought turkey fryer as a gift. It was the typical setup most big box stores sell, where you get the large stock pot with lid and thermometer, regulator, stand, etc. The stock pot and accessories (turkey holder, hanger to remove the holder, thermometer) were all fairly decent. The thermometer still works well two years later, none of it has any rust, it's all in pretty good shape. The stand and regulator, though, were not as good. The regulator that came with my fryer had a little button timer on it. The idea is that every 15 minutes you have to push the button or it shuts off your gas. This ensures you're actually paying attention to your fryer. The problem here is that sometimes the timer would last a full 15 minutes. Then again, sometimes it would only last 5 or 6 minutes before shutting off. There was no real consistency to it. The end result was that either you stood next to it 100% of the time to ensure you hit it as soon as it tripped, or you'd walk over well within the 15 minute window only to find that it had gone out early, extinguishing your flame and allowing your oil to cool. This wasn't hard to keep track of on comfortable days, but when it starts to get cold and wet around Thanksgiving/Christmas, having to stand next to your regulator from start to finish was pretty inconvenient. The stand that came with my fryer, on the other hand, wasn't just inconvenient, it seemed downright dangerous. The design was stamped metal that was riveted together and wasn't very strong. By applying VERY light pressure to any of the bars, you could easily bend/flex it. So, when you put the stock put full of oil on it and added a turkey, it got very flimsy and wobbly. Not exactly what you want when you're dealing with oil heated to several hundred degrees. Unfortunately, as the stand aged, it only got worse, and far less stable. Finally, when I pulled it out of the pantry a couple weeks ago to get things ready for Thanksgiving, it was to the point where I was no longer comfortable using it. Just sitting with the empty pot on it, it seemed very unstable. I have little doubt that, had we have used it, it would have collapsed. So, this led to my purchase of the Bayou Classic stand and regulator.Right off the bat, I was thrilled to see the regulator did NOT have the annoying and inconsistent timer. It had a high quality, braided steel hose instead of the typical cheap rubber hose, and was everything I wished the original that came with my fryer would have been. The stand was WELL above my expectations. Every piece of it is thick, welded steel. Nothing stamped, nothing riveted. It is probably 5 times the weight of my original stand (not heavy, just a noticeable increase in weight). This is the kind of stand that lasts a lifetime. There is absolutely no give, no flexing, no bending, and no stability issues at all. For the price, I would not only gladly buy this again for myself, but am planning on buying a few to give as gifts to family members/friends who I know have the cheaper stands that came in their kits. I couldn't be happier. If you want to upgrade your current setup from the cheap nonsense you get in the store-bought kits, or are planning on investing in your first fryer setup (or setup for seafood boils, etc) and just want to make sure you get the most for your money and something that will last, this is DEFINITELY the way to go.

Big Cooking Power, small Amazon.com price!
I bought this to brew my beer, and I'm really happy I did. After making beer in the kitchen for many years, my wife finally had enough of the brewery in her kitchen. With my marching orders in hand, I went online to find an outdoor cooker. After searching brew sites and the lot, I ended up back at Amazon. Needless to say, they had the often cited cooker, the Bayou Classic SP10, at a great (ok, best) price. I placed my order, and upon arrival I was amazed at the size of this thing. It' much bigger than I imagined. Read the specifications to know what you are buying, it is pretty big. That being said, it makes for a great brewer's heat source. It puts out the heat in spades. It's stable, and it is easy to use. Great! As others have mentioned, there's a smell from the paint burning off, so it's a good idea to run it for 20-30 minutes before you use it for cooking the first time. I put my brew pot on there with a bunch of water and it had it boiling in just a few minutes. After letting the paint burn off after 30 minutes, I dumped that water and started over with my brew ingredients. I was at my first protein rest in a matter of minutes. Each heating cycle was a breeze and I was able to get a great rolling boil going without any difficulty. Getting the boil dialed in wasn't too difficult either. Cleanup was the easiest I've had. I pulled out the hose and rinsed off the patio. I like this outdoor cooking. The amount of power this puts out is quite amazing. You need to be careful you don't empty out your propane tank in only a few minutes. That said, I had a solid boil going on a very low setting. I raised it to a higher flow rate to speed the heating process along when raising the temperature, but full power seems a waste of gas to me.Overall: Great outdoor cooker!***UPDATE*** ***UPDATE*** ***UPDATE*** ***UPDATE***After having the Bayou Classic SP10 for nearly a year, I am still loving this purchase. 100% happy with the build, output, and overall usefulness of the burner. I've had nearly 4 gallons rolling on a rather low setting. PUMPS out the heat. I'm now brewing in the garage most of the time. It burns up a lot of 02 and puts out lots of CO2, so be sure to crack open a door or window if you are inside with this thing. No issues with any of the parts.Zero complaints. I would buy this again (but won't need to since it appears it will last a lifetime).
