Essential German Grammar (Essential Language Grammars)

The first chapter alone is worth its weight in gold! What a thoroughly and uniquely written german grammer book. I have bought "complete this" and "essential that" but this book ticks all the boxes. Its all you need in life other than that billion dollar lottery ticket!!!!!

Concise and easy to follow (good layout). A bit hard for beginners, but a great addition to a german textbook.

This is an excellent practical grammar of German. It is well structured, treating the various elements of the language thoroughly and systematically and is very clear, avoiding the temptation to over complicate explanations. The exercises (and answers) serve to help reinforce understanding. In my view, this is the best grammar of its type available.

If you are studying, or teaching, German at either GCSE or A-level then you will be very hard pressed to find a book that explains the German language as well as this one.

I hate studying grammar and it is like pulling teeth with me. However, it is the back bone of a language and needs constant practise. This book has excellent exercises with the answers in the back. This second edition has nearly the same exercises as the first edition which my German teacher works from. There are only a few tweaks to names etc.. used in the sentences. I am not sure that I find the grammar explanations as easy as others have done, but that may just be me. It is a very good book and worth buying.

Superbly laid out. The index is easy to navigate which makes the book very useful as a reference book.

Schoolbook that arrived early and in good order.Been well used at this stage.
