Plug and play
Works great for the blower on a wood stove. Can set to any speed with this!

read the description of the item
This device only works on motors that have brushes in them, which is what it says. I put it on my 11 amp shop type vac...perfect, it dials the speed down so it's quiet and yet still allows plenty of airflow to clean. It will NOT work on any device that has soft-start technology, which the product description ALSO says and in fact you might damage a vac or power tool with soft-start if you try to use it on this device.

Not what I had hoped for
So, I had hoped to use this to slow down the RPMs on a cheap tabletop drill; however, it had no effect on the motor speed. I think I may have read somewhere that the motor had to have brushes in order for the rheostat to work properly, but I do not believe the product description was anywhere near clear enough about which applications could or could not be controlled by the unit. It did slow my shop vac down some, not a lot, but some. I'm trying to decide whether to return it or save for a DIY bee vac. I need a slower drill press, not a bee vac. :(

Motor Control - Hoist
We use this to slow down a hoist designed to lift off our Jeep top. Without this speed control the hoist was too fast. This lets us lift and lower the top super slow so we can control the task alone now. When not used for the hoist I slow down the garage fan with it to a quiet gentle breeze. Great device!

Reduced shop vac speed with long term running.
I had a ground bee nest that was too close to the house. I needed to lower the shop vac speed to reduce the noise level at the nozzle. (Bees tend to not like noise and become “shy” of nozzle). Over a 4 day period, running at about 4 to 5 hour intervals, nest activity lowered to unsustainable volume. At that point I plugged the hole and they gave up. I’m sure I’ll find other applications for the device. I’m happy with the results.

Did not work on sawzall.
Would not even run saw at lower speeds. Saw did not move until speed knob was at max then saw took off at max speed.

Well built, electrically sturdy, ran 11amp angle grinder with ease
I always worry about purchasing these type of devices because I can design and build them myself. I like this one. Needed something to reduce my 11amp angle grinder rpm's for buffing and polishing. It did great. Held current even when pulling the highest amps at minimum speed under heavy loads. I might buy another.

variable speed controller
I purchased the product for a heater that has no variable controls on it. The controller did limit the amount of electricity being sent to the heater, but there was a noticeable hum.
