VH31 Quartz movement is Better
I returned the SNK381 because I thought it was defective. I didn't know it needed to be shaken to bring it alive.1. Instructions were not included.2. I learned I don't desire automatic movements. That said, if instructions were sent along with it, I most likely would have kept it, . For geeks an automatic movement can't be replaced, however, if you are not a geek and need a serious tool watch take a look elsewhere. I gave it five stars because it's a high quality watch for those who desire looking at mechanical movements and dealing with its antics.

Good value on a classic design
It is a good dependable watch. I like that plain classic look and numbers rather than indices. day/date windows are easy to read.It keeps time well has only gained or lost 5-10 seconds per week. Have worn it everyday since I bought it. I changed the wrist band so I can not review that. It has been wet from dunkings in dish water, rained on while on bike, has not shown any signs of moisture inside. The cristal has no scratches on it even though it has been banged on door frames. The lume is good and last longer than stated.

does not work - do not buy
Notice the name is misspelled. This "watch" is not authentic. The model number DOES NOT EXIST on the official website. It cost over one hundred and thirty dollars, worked only five months with constant readjusting, and then died. No product support, return impossible after two months. WARNING!!! do not buy!

Nice Lumed Numerals and Matte Dial
Among several Seiko 5s I have, I like this dial the most because it doesn't reflect light back. The matte dial enhances legibility. Not to mention that the dial feels less cluttered than for example the popular SNK809. But the handset isn't the best when it comes to legibility--if only it was paired with the same "all-white" handset found in the SNKN25 (or the older SNX809). But it still is probably the best choice among Seiko 5 'field-watch' options because the SNKN25 dial just has lumed "pips" (numerals are not lumed unlike with the SNK381), the SNX809 has a case that is polished everywhere and is paired with a white day-date that "swallows" the white hands (the hands gets "lost" when they go over the day-date), and the SNK809 isn't really a "field-watch" (as opposed to the SNX809 which is). As Seiko 5 watches go, this is a good one. And the item I received works well out of the box.

My Very First Seiko & Automatic Watch✨
The media could not be loaded. Hands down the best watch I've ever owned! This is a watch inspired by the older “MACV-SOG” version used by the special Vietnam soldiers in WW2. I love its history behind it and it feels amazing on the wrist. Some people complained about the bracelet it comes with but i love the way it looks and feels with the original bracelet. I have changed the bracelet to a Nato Strap every once and a while but always go back to using its original. Its lume is AMAZING its so bright and easy to read at night which really surprised me.(in the video you can see it) i have now started a watch collection thanks to this watch and have fell down the rabbit hole of buying many watches but this one is by far my favorite one. I highly recommend you getting this watch before it sells out since they are no longer producing this model meaning once it sells out everywhere you wont be able to get it and the price will increase with time. Do yourself a favor and get it while you still can you wont regret it!Ps. Thank you to every single Veteran/Soldier for their service! 🫡

Meh
I own a few Seiko watches including automatics, and love this style of this watch. It was just way too small. I do think I have a larger wrist, as I typically enjoy 42 or 43 mm cases. This seemed very small on my wrist. Also the bracelet is extremely cheap. I was already planning on replacing it with a leather strap, which is weird too considering it uses a 20 mm strap which in my experience is small, obviously this is related to case diameter. Attractive watch, could pass for a war masculine watch on a woman's wrist or perfect for guys with a smaller wrists. Do wish it was available closer to 42 or 43 mm.
