Best value in pocket knife sharpening
Excellent stone for maintaining pocket knives and smaller sized blades; Also a good introductory stone for hand sharpening or using a waterstone. A bit on the small side for larger kitchen knives but not a major hardship considering the price. The 250 grit is great for resurrecting abused edges and fast reprofiling. The 1000 grit is good for maintaining a working quality edge. With certain profiles the 1000 can produce shaving sharpness but in most cases you're going to need a finer stone achieve that consistently. My next knife sharpening purchase will probably be a full sized 1000/6000 waterstone to get to the next level in sharpness.

Look no further, utility but Heavy Duty and lots of it
This is the best, handiest, quality made "pocket" "utility" grade sharpening stone I've ever had. "Pocket" because it's bigger than that, just big enough to be truly useful. "Utility" because it's not precious or fine grade, but, it's not the derogatory ,utility sometimes means, it's a work tool, well made and made to work.

Great for the price
Great stone for the price. I use it mainly for my kitchen knives. A little short but it is meant to be handy & portable. It does shed grit a little more easily than I expected, but I am quite pleased with the end result on the knives.

Not the best, but it's a decent stone
This isn't comparable to a high quality stone, but it's decent and works.

Small but Effective
This stone worked wonderfully for my chef's knife. It is quite small, which demands more technique while sharpening, but I greatly appreciate its portability. I think the combination of grit choices is excellent. My cheap chef's knife, which was incredibly dull before, now passes the paper test, slices apples to transparent thinness, and cuts smoothly through soft, ripe tomatoes. The only problem I've had with this stone is that, being so small and light, it doesn't have as much stability on the table that a larger stone would offer. I can't dock points for that, though, since that is a quality inherent to any small, portable stone. I am extremely satisfied with this product.

This is a great beginers stone
I am use to the old American Arkansas hard rock to sharpen. Never have I used a "mud" whetstone. None the less, this stone puts a very nice sharp matte edge on any blade using the right angle and stroke weight. It is of high quality, no pits or scratches. A few tiny chips on the edges in unusable area so nothing to worry about. This will not give you a polished finish, the 6000 range is for that, or acquire a honing compound that is suitable for this style of stone and go to town. The length is a little short and can feel too small but if you angle the blade more towards a 45° angle and maintain a 50-50 draw and cut technique you will have enough room for any knife.

Good buy, well made.
Stone seems well made, really good for finishing up an edge but not fixing a dull one. I would suggest soaking it in water until ALL air bubbles are gone before using instead of just dabbing a little honing oil when sharpening. Good product nonetheless!

Sharp as a tick
For the price and what I'm using it for its killer. Most wet stones are all kinds of weird grades for no reason. This is exactly what you want for you home or work knife collection. It would be perfect is it was a little wider and longer.
