Superior to Knipex
I also own the Knipex 1242195. It has worked extremely well but when I bought a second one the performance was unsatisfactory even after a couple exchanges. I settled on trying this one after researching Phoenix Contact's various models - this one has a good range of wire capabilities. I use it to strip 22ga, 24ga, 16 ga and 14ga stranded machine wire. The Wirefox operates similar to the Knipex but with one important distinction - it has an adjustable cut depth feature. Set it toward + for thinner wires and toward - for heavier gauge wires. After setting the proper cutting depth it performs flawlessly and as it should - just set your wire to the adjustable depth stop and squeeze - flawless and fast. I have to strip thousands of small gauge wires for the machines I build so I cant afford to have a tool that requires waiting for the blades to 'bite' or overcutting that takes a few strands with the insulation. This one does the job. Its nice and light - made of a high quality plastic and the blue part is a rubberized texture. Its made in Sweden. You usually get what you pay for and these tools are no exception. I've used the under $30 cheap ones as well and there's really no comparison. The mechanical action of this type of stripper does all the work - you're hands wont get tired from squeezing the handle.

Excellent wire strippers, almost up to 8 awg
Very nice strippers when used correctly. Test with scrap to set the cut depth using the +/- slider at the top, then set the cut length with the stop in the jaws. You can also bypass the stop to cut mid-wire. Max length either way is 18 mm (0.71”). Marginal for 8 awg wire, and I have to rotate the wire and make a couple of half cuts first. Maybe there’s a trick I’m not aware of. As for the review asserting that this is a bogus knockoff of Pressmaster, the reviewer is mistaken. Pressmaster is owned by Phoenix Contact. They say so on their website. No idea what the price difference is about, but this is not a knockoff of anything.

Great tool
Works as it should, easy to strip wires as advertised, including delicate ribbons without touching the wire. I needed to adjust the depth before starting the work so I just used a end piece and adjusted, and away you go. Works well and is consistent. I believe this same tool is available from many manufacturers but cannot be sure.

Easy to use!
They are very comfortable and easy to use, I like the fact that you can set how much insulation to strip and also a wire cutter built in

Rip-off. Identical to Pressmaster wire strippers
Rip-off. My buddy has the Pressmaster wire strippers that by accident, I found out are exactly the same. Same numbers in the back, same mechanical parts, they are identical. Only difference is the price. This is not a true phoenix tool. Save your money and buy the Pressmaster wire strippers. Trust me, you won't notice a difference.

Very good grip, durable, always sharp, depth remain in place (doesn't slide in), good quality wire cutter blades. On the negative side: price, a bit expensive.

I've a range of wire strippers, three of them being automatic. In short, I think if you've got several hundred strips to make, inside a PLC, etc, this is the tool you're wanting; they nailed the design by having a front-on strip approach for tight spaces, the front-on / open-mouth cutter that enables you to clip a wire without hand contortions, nor sliding the wire through and travelling several feet to get to the desired area; it also allows for cutting pressure adjustment, so as not to score fine wire. The tool is incredibly light weight and will go unnoticeable in your pouch. The cons? I find the cutting pressure to be a bit finicky as to whether it'll grip right; as it stands, the tool is best suited for many cuts with the same type of wire, changing wire types often could prove to be aggravating. I think Phoenix Contact makes decent gear, I really loved then crimper and termination screwdrivers, so I figured I'd add the Wirefox 10 to the roster...being as it went on sale. At $130 CA I still think the tool is about $50 too overpriced, $80 CA would still seem pricey but the allure of convenience and marketing would prove too tempting to overlook for long. I won't be giving up any of my other strippers just yet though, they all have their place where they out do eachother. The Klein Katapult is incredibly durable and works well, it just has a non ergonomic spread for it's handles during long periods of use; the cutter, while handy, requires you to pass the wire all the way along to get to where you need to cut; I feel they could take more abuse than the Phoenix though. The Klein auto strippers are great for residential applications because they can cut the outer NMD jacket, as well as the wire, in two motions and without adjustment - that's really handy! And the cutter is open-mouthed, so you can cut immediately at the area you wish, but it does require an unwanted contortion of the hand. I also have the grey handled manual Klein strippers because sometimes it's more desirable to have pliers that can twist wires to be marrette'd if you're not using Wago terminations, also they have the reamer for EMT and can function as a hammer to tighten lock-nuts, etc. So, you see what I mean by all the strippers have their advantage? In closing, if you can get the Wirefox's on sale then, by all means, try them out for yourself; I think you'll enjoy the addition but it's not something you'd die without if you've no other auto strippers.
