Love this umbrella! Plus excellent support when the clamp broke
This is the perfect sports umbrella for sitting at your child's soccer game! Works perfectly at adjusting to different positions to keep your face out of the sun, if not your whole body. Often I sit next to others who shuffle in to also seek shade under my umbrella since it has such a large canopy. On the downside, I read in the reviews here about the clamp breaking and unfortunately after exactly 1 year of use, the same thing happened to me. I emailed Sportsbrella for warranty support and they wrote back asking for my address to send me a kit to fix the broken clamp. The following week the "kit" arrived which was just a screw and bolt. Apparently it's the long screw inside the clamp that was the issue. When I removed the old screw, it was evident that it was unusually worn and the threads bent toward the middle. In any case, after removing the old one and installing the new one, the clamp works again. So happy for such an easy fix! And love that the Sportsbrella team was able to offer this simple solution rather than returning the umbrella since I rely on it so much. Very pleased overall and would recommend this umbrella to anyone!

SOUTHERN SOCCER FIELD TESTED and APPROVED
I purchased this for watching soccer in the hot sun in the South East US. I tried golf umbrellas which help but was still hot and massive. I even got a little sun burned under a white and red golf umbrella we have. I assume they were specifically deigned for shelter from the rain and sun secondary. Now with the Sport-Brella I found it to be MUCH, MUCH better than a typical rain umbrella due to the inside material blocks/reflects the infrared heat from the sun. This results in measurably cooler experience than other umbrellas. The manufactures claims a UPF 50+ and i can believe it as i can be under with little sun protection without getting a sun burn. The Sport-Brella's simple mechanics allow an amazing range of adjustment and seem to be sound in quality. With a little tweaking we can shield ourselves from most any postilion of the sun and STILL see the action on the field. For days that we have 5+ mph wind and gusty days i typically stabilize with one hand resting on my arm rest to minimize risk of damage that can happen to most any umbrella. The Sport-Brella folds intuitively and quickly into the storage tote that comes with. The tote is nice quality, has a cinch tie to secure product inside and a shoulder strap for easy carrying. This feature is nice when hauling several chairs and Sport-Brellas to the hot grassy tundras of Georgia. I recommend the buy to anyone looking for a great personal scale sun shelter.

Other reviews are spot on, and overall this umbrella is good (but not a miracle)
If you've read the other reviews, then nothing will surprise you with this umbrella. The various points of articulation work pretty well, although some are stickier than others (and simply require some wiggling during adjustment). There is that clamp problem where there's a metal nut that can come out if you loosen the clamp almost all the way. The superglue fix others have described here is easy, but you have to do it BEFORE you lose the nut. Just make sure you don't accidentally glue your clamp into a static position. As for the umbrella as an umbrella, it has made the beach much more bearable. I originally got it because I'm pregnant and right now my skin is too sensitive to handle the sun exposure I would normally be fine with. I've taken this umbrella to the beach multiple times, and it's great. It clamps right to the back of my chair and is easily adjustable as the sun moves, or if you move your chair. I also clamped it to my deck railing to create some shade while my husband was grilling this summer, and that worked pretty well. It doesn't cover a huge area, but if you're in one spot, it'll do.Mild winds don't faze the umbrella. In moderate winds or with gusts, you need to be aware of wind direction so you don't accidentally create a sail out of your umbrella. As with any umbrella, it will catch in a stiff breeze. The Sport-Brella never threatened to break or invert, but the strongest beach winds did cause it to shift/slide from its clamped position. Basically, this thing isn't wind-proof, so don't expect it to be.I imagine that I will continue to use this at the beach in the future, since it does wonders for not getting too hot (or getting burnt after forgetting to reapply sunscreen, which I've done several times). I also like that the clamp is so versatile, since it can attach to other chairs, a stroller, or a deck railing. I can only imagine how useful it will be if I'm taking my impending kid somewhere in a stroller and there's strong sun or some rain. Being able to protect yourself without taking up your hands is clutch. Definitely glad I made this purchase.

Great for blocking that Phoenix sun
I have an apartment and face west in the Phoenix heat. I like to sit on my balcony in the afternoon, but the sun will burn you here. This little umbrella is perfect!! I clap it to my seat and maneuver it as the sun moves. This blocks everything. Makes my area nice and shady. And it holds up against the wind.
