Braun claims these last 18 months and I am replacing mine at almost exactly 18 months. I would say that over the last couple of months I noticed that the blades were not cutting as sharply as before, so the only negative is how long the blades last. But now with the new replacement blades the razor is working perfectly. It remains a really nice razor for the price.

This is the authentic Braun replacement, not a knockoff. Felt my razor spring back into functionality after putting this on.

Cuts like new, but it's expensive and not that much better than cheaper knock offs.
