Hormone Intelligence: The Complete Guide to Calming Hormone Chaos and Restoring Your Body’s Natural Blueprint for Well-Being Review: Life changing - not just common sense - this is for every knowledge level - I absolutely love this book, I purchased it on Apple Books first, after reading I decided to order the physical book as well as a copy for my mother. Aviva does a great job of explaining the the why behind symptoms, potential causes of disorders, and the how of how to fix it! This has helped me explore treatment options with my doctor, know what blood test to request, and it has helped me get diagnosed and begin to manage my PCOS. I now know what to do to make my periods far less painful, and I can use this book to reference why I might be feeling a certain way and what normal should look like. I have struggled with extremely painful periods since getting my period, it has been life-changing not to be curled up in a ball on the floor or having to take time off from work because of the pain. I truly did not believe that not being miserable on your period was normal until I followed the advice in the book and noticed after a few months my periods and the rest of my cycle were far less extreme. If you have a daughter or you struggle with your cycle, I would recommend checking this out - it provides a lot wonderful foundational knowledge, outlines what normal is versus what we’ve been told is normal (spoiler - being a raving lunatic for a week, *painful* cramps, and depression are not just part of being a woman), and helping provide realistic and sustainable changes to your life to live in harmony with your body. Review: Refreshing Combination of Western and Natural Medicine - First of all, the first section of this book has fantastic information on women's health, hormones, and cycles that every woman should know, and I recommend it to everyone just for that. I really appreciated that she has a lot of respect for Western Medicine while still acknowledging its shortcomings. As for the hormone plan, I picked up this book after a year of hormone chaos. My PMS was raging (I could schedule my emotional breakdowns from depression and anxiety) and I gained 20 pounds in a year after 7 years at a steady 190 (popping straight back there after 2 pregnancies) even though I was more physically active than I had been in years. My mental health started to decline generally (not just cyclically) and I decided it was time for intervention. In addition to therapy I talked to a nurse-midwife, who told me that unless it was my thyroid, the only thing Western medicine would do was put me on the Pill and an antidepressant, but she also told me about this book, which she said I could try. Three months later, my PMS is completely under control, my anxiety is significantly improved, I am slowly but steadily losing the weight I gained, and my energy levels and general well-being are better than they've been in years. I 100% recommend this book, especially if you're dealing with hormone struggles. You don't have to agree with everything (she fully admits to being a bit of a hippie haha) to get so much good out of this book.

Data on hormones that you can't get from conventional doctors
The doctor goes into data about woman's health. She provides the truth about the medical world and how it is broken. It's honest. She gives data on here studies. She gives recipes. She may not give nutritional % but she gives data on what foods do to hormones. As someone who has studied for 40 years, I'm blessed that someone is speaking out and giving the honest truth. She talks about many diets and doesn't judge people. She does talk about ancient stuff but you know what back in the ancient days they actually did the stuff she talked about and they didn't have issues like this messed up worod has today. If you are looking for the truth and wanting to feel better and don't mind having to change you lifestyle to get better than this book is for you. She doesn't push anything, rather gives data that no one else either doesn't want to give or doesn't know. Thank you Dr. Aviva. I'm blessed. Too many doctors tell me it's in my head and I eat too much and I need all these medications...Big Pharma..it's what this world runs on..that you for calling this world out. Best book ever written for the medical world for women.

Super Practical, Packed with Info, Fun to Read!
This book is a must have for anyone with female hormones! A comprehensive guide to taking our wellness into our own hands. So full of information about the hormone and gut microbiome connection, ways to balance our body systems and restore health which applies to just about anyone. Dr, Aviva addresses our health from a functional medicine perspective and I love her approach, which recognizes the reality of our busy lives and makes practical manageable changes that can help us live more comfortably in our bodies. She completes the book with meal plan ideas and easy to make delicious recipes. It is hard to find a physician who approaches health in this whole lifestyle way, and now you can have one guiding you while you sip tea on your couch! A must read, and would make a great gift!

If I could order one for everyone I would!
I’m half way through and am so thankful for this book. I’m postpartum and have had trouble getting answers from my dr about how bad I feel. They just told me “a lot of mothers of young children are exhausted.” But I know something is wrong because I haven’t felt good for even one day in the last 1.5 years. This book lays out so many symptoms and she’s done the hard work of teasing out what set of symptoms belong to what, and a very helpful “self diagnosis” section for each problem. I am loving the affirmation that I even have a problem! So now I’m trying to go vegan and am feeling like the tide is shifting, thank God! Speaking of God, I’m a conservative Christian and some of the things she addresses at the beginning may come off a little new age-y but it didn’t offend me in the least. It was just surprising to read language that is so pro-women I think it just took a minute for me to understand what she was getting at. I do think God gave us women an inner guidance system (the core of our being) and there’s nothing new age-y about that. Wanting to give my 2 sense on the spiritual side to those that think there may be some hocus-pocus in here. It’s a very good, considerate treatment addressing confusion of the woman’s soul as she navigates her body.

I've been following Dr. Aviva's work for some time now and she always offers a scientific based guidance along with kindness and useful tips. This book brings all together plus practical orientations to help people create a better relationship with their bodies, and ultimately improve health. I've follow her 28 days Gut Reset plan and I've never felt so much energy and a more steady mood in my pre-menstrual phase like I felt this time. The recipes are simple and the whole family can enjoy it. I highly recommend this book!
