No. This is a 2014 cut-down, and budget, version of a Humax 2010 model, albeit with a slightly faster processor. Although the 2010 model has been hacked to be capable of setting recordings on a smart phone, both locally and promptly, this has not been done with the HDR-1800T

Any Hdmi socket is fine, the message you are getting probably refers to the aerial signal so plug in to hdmi 1 and then select hdmi 1 from the input/source list
