Reflects heat, protects as designed to do
I situated this lightweight, heat-reflector material on the wall behind my toaster oven/air fryer combo where the heat vents are on back right side. I did NOT peel off the entire backing to expose the sticky -- instead I peeled off just a half-inch strip of backing to expose the sticky across the top and the bottom -- and then also added an X-cut-out for the oven plug to come through as well. My electrical outlet is just a fraction to the left of the oven heat vents, but I didn't want the outlet and the wiring behind/inside the outlet to get a constant dose of heat every time I used the oven, so I protected it with a small X-cut flap opening for the electrical plug to fit through. As a pattern guide, I first cut a paper bag the exact size of the reflective material and situated the paper bag on the wall to mark where the plug needed to come through -- this ensured where I needed the X-cut-out for the plug to come through. I then used the paper bag pattern to mark the reflective material and make the X-cut (and recycled the paper bag from there.) I kept the left and right sides open/no sticky used on the sides, so that air could flow and dissipate if there was any heat build-up. I also make sure the cord doesn't rest on the body of the oven when I use it. In my pics, it looks like the cord is touching, but it's just the angle of the pic, the cord isn't touching. These ovens get very hot. It all works well -- there is no heat build up behind the oven/on the wall/on the outlet -- as it reflects the heat away and it then dissipates all around and protects as designed.

Incredible insulation, especially for price!!!
Great insulation!!! Made garage extra 10-degrees cooler than outside compared to last summer. And it was hotter this summer too!Easy to apply with very strong adhesive! Plan your installation, cut into proper sized pieces beforehand. Be extremely careful when peeling off backing because if it sticks to itself, it WILL NOT separate. You'll end up tearing it trying to separate. I peeled and laid it upside down over arms of chair in preparation. Then gently lifted by corners to keep sheet flat and then slowly moved to garage-door panel to install.Overall, took about 1-hr to install on 2-car garage door. Really amazing performance at keeping garage cooler. :)

Works better than most
The air gap matters. If you can find a way to put some air in between the component you want to stay cool and the heat wrap you'll have success with this. If you put the heat wrap directly on the component you're trying to protect you're not protecting it at all. You don't need much air but direct contact defeats the purpose of it entirely. I used it under the hood to isolate my intake tube from the high temps of the engine bay. I also used some in the rear patch area to isolate my water box for the air to water in a cooler from the heat of the Sun heating up the rear end. It's a very thick material and definitely feels like it's going to last very long time. High quality and durable material like this typically costs triple the price. I didn't actually use the adhesive feature so I can't speak to that but the effectiveness of it makes it a good buy even if you have to supplement the adhesive in some form.

Adequate for reflecting heat
not much fiber glass but effective in reflecting heat.

Good stuff for protecting against radiant heat
This works good for engine bay locations where radiant heat from exhaust can burn or melt hosed, tubes and wiring harnesses. Anywhere there is radiant heat within a few inches of wires, hoses or even pipes and cables. This doesn't necessarily insulate as much as guards against high heat components that can do damage. Tricky to work with as it in sheet format, sort of like thick shelf paper.

A bit weak
Tape is very fragile to crinkling and the adhesive is not particularly strong

Great product
Came rolled up with no creases. Easy to install. Worked great and stuck to the inside of side plate to protect against hot exhaust muffler on my 2001 Suzuki DR650SE.

Functional and clean look
Don’t let the folding discourage you from buying this. When applied carefully on flat surfaces, the creases are not a big deal. Other imperfections in the foil or fiber weave are more visible. If you’re looking for a functional heat shield for a project and you still want it to look decent this is for you. If you’re trying to use this purely for cosmetics and need flawless foil then look somewhere else.I’ve included an image from a low angle that shows the fold lines once applied.
