Getting Started: Visual Astronomy

this is the book to have
As a new member of a local astronomy group, I have many questions about getting started in astrophotography. The other members have been very helpful, but I believe this book has the answer to almost all my questions ... the processes, the equipment, and the expenses. The author is at once encouraging to beginners hoping to break into the field on a budget and brutally honest about the requirements and expenses of doing any advanced work in this field. Of the several books I have personally purchased from Amazon on this subject, this one is the book I would recommend to readers who wanted to purchase only one book.

A Lot of Useful Information and Advice
I have been a visual amateur astronomer for over 50 years and I really enjoyed this upbeat and enthusiastic introduction to visual astronomy. I even learned a few new things! Astronomical concepts were simply explained. However, the author's discussion of the motion of the celestial objects in the sky is very confusing and misleading. All in all this ebook is a real bargain and I highly recommend it for beginners.

I typically don't review books
Excellent beginners guide to astronomy. I have always wanted a telescope but never bought one. For my birthday this year my wife bought me - after several curious conversations that I did not pick up on. The instructions that came with the telescope i now realize are far less than adequate. This book is written to be understood and provides great guidance on accessories and it got me using my new telescope and enjoying it. I started with this author's book on equatorial mounts - another real gem. I'm a beginner at a somewhat advanced age and I am enjoying my telescope thanks to these two book. I wou!d give his books six stars.

ottimo

Not a bad read to be honest just a bit disappointing
The 3 Allen Hall books that I got ALL contain EXACTLY the same pages, photographs etc with a few extra details "bolted on" to make the book a bit more specific in that particular area....Not a bad read to be honest just a bit disappointing...!!!
