Very nicely done!
This is a nice little pill grinder! We recently started having to crush all of the medication for our patient. I had a wooden pestle that worked great, but I felt we lost too much of the medication in the cup. I ordered two different pestles here on Amazon and though they looked very similar on the screen, this one is much nicer. This one has a nice, smooth, polished finis on the bowl. The mortar is finished the same way at the top, with a rough texture at the crushing end. It works VERY well. Prior to this, we were using a plastic pill crusher that did not do well on certain (coated) pills. Now, I can crush them all with ease! For crushing pills - these is huge. Crushing other things, it would be considered small. For what we needed, I wouldn't want any larger. It appears to be well made with attention to finishing details. The other pestle I returned. This one I hope will be around for a very long time. I would recommend it to anyone that has to crush pills daily, or even occasionally.

Perfect and small
It’s perfect to grind small things. I love the size and it’s higher quality that I expected!

Would buy again
Works well. Smaller than I expected but that's my fault for not reading the size. I used it to crush up some caraway seeds for a recipe. It said to toast them first so I don't know if this helped or hurt. They crushed up fairly well but not as small as I would have liked and I worked at it for awhile. Caraway seeds are a dark brown/black and since I was busy with the other parts of the recipe, after I dumped the seeds in my pot I left the item on the counter. Went to wash it a little later and saw it looked a little stained but with a little elbow work the stains came off. Overall, not bad for price compared to others and I won't be using it very often. I would buy again.

Only good for small jobs
Is very small, but I'll use it when my spices clump from humidity

Good quality small mortar and pestle
I'll be honest I bought this but never ended up needing it. It's good quality - heavy for its size and looks clean and inviting to use. It's definitely durable - it survived a tumble onto a cement floor. It's very smooth. I just wish I ended up with a use for it. None the less, I CAN say it's a high quality item.

Great Utility
A Mortar & Pestle is something that I never dreamed I would be using someday. I love it! This little darling fits in the palm of my hand as I crush pills for my wife. She has great difficulty swallowing for medical reasons. Large pills are almost dangerous for her to swallow. Smashing pills with a spoon inside of a bowl just doesn't work. Clumsy and ineffective. I found this on Amazon and I had a light-bulb moment. VERY effective. I crush and add a little milk to the mortar which is small enough for her to drink from. A quick whisking with a plastic for and I'm good-to-go. She loves it. I highly recommend this ancient device for modern day use.

Above the Rest, This Mortar and Pestle is Possibly One of the Best
It's porcelain, so it's not as sophisticated as granite or marble types, and yet, it's well made. It reminds me of chemistry class, in high school, but it looks good enough to keep out in the open, on my kitchen counter. The pestle fits precisely into the curvature of the mortar. The pestle has a slightly flat nose, perfect for initial crushing. The mortar is large enough to crush one item first, and it leaves room enough for another item to crush at the same time (e.g., spice, herb, chemical, salt, etc.). Grind two or more items at once! Normal washing leaves it white. Awesome.

Pestle too small
The bowl size is exactly what I needed. However, the pestle is very small-short and narrow. Can only use 2-3 fingers on it. Not enough force to crush pills. I had to use the larger pestle from the old set and that combination works well especially with the rough interior of the mortar. Also, beware that the mortar is white, so it is hard to see if you emptied the bowl of white powdered pills.Durability:Ceramic. Hopefully it will not crack like my old glass one.
