🎥 A timeless tale that dares to provoke!
Lolita (1997) is a film adaptation of Vladimir Nabokov's controversial novel, directed by Adrian Lyne. Starring Jeremy Irons and Dominique Swain, it explores complex themes of obsession and desire, set against a backdrop of stunning visuals and a haunting score.

no nudity in this movie
Unless Frank Langella running in nothing but an open dressing gown Willy flapping about while being shot counts. It's a well made movie with a visual pallet similar to forest gump, but with the bad guy from die hard and a more believable plot, the plot exists in a bit of a bubble ,if he didn't see it it didn't happen, mostly. Roles are played well, I disliked most of the characters once I got to know them, credit to the actors. The subject of the movie demonstrates how destructive it is as a singular entity even without the pressures of external judgement.Goodness it has the second Kruger brother from the later die hard movie in it, it's not going to be a smutty snuff movie.Lampoon's vacation, RoboCop, alien , hear no evit see no evil all have token nudity , this film does not.

Lolita dvd
I like this film. again the period clothing of the 1930 ,s was a great atmosphere part of the film .The storyline was a bit dodgy regarding Jeremy Irons part as the teacher captivated by the young under age Lolita whose mother he married just so he could be near to her. It probably happens in reality.

Tasteful but a bit depressing
Preferred the book but this deals with a difficult subject quite tastefully. Found the ending a bit depressing

What do you mean "UNCUT"?
An excellent movie. This is what cinema is all about, but this Czech release labelled "uncut" is no different than the British release. Yes, on the back of the box it says the movie runs for 137 minutes and on the back on the British version it says it runs for 132 minutes but truth be told, they both clock in at just under 132 minutes and that includes the final credits. The British release has the edge because it includes a director's commentary and subtitles for the hard of hearing. Otherwise, aside from the menus written in Czechoslovakian, both dvds are identical.I already own the British release and, detesting all forms of censorship, bought this one hoping for 5 minutes of extra footage that "nanny" deemed was not for my eyes. It didn't happen. So be warned.

Regularly in the top 10 novels of all time. ...
Regularly in the top 10 novels of all time. Superb writing. Will make you question whether some of the 'child abuse' we read so much about is actually 'adult abuse' by very knowing, fully sexually mature children. It is, of course, far more difficult to accept that there may beshades of grey rather than pure black in this subjet, so it will be rejected out of hand by the intellectually lazy.

Strange and haunting movie
It was admittedly disturbing but not offensive or vulgar. I found myself wondering how much of Lolita was purely his fantasy of her verses reality. Especially later in the film with his paranioa. It was hard to sympathyse with ethier character, she was hardly innocent and he was clearly disturbed. Like they were made for each other yet clearly doomed from the start. I never read the book and only saw parts of the original film, which bored me. This was worth watching a taseful way of putting the message across, was he predatory? Mabe, tortured yes, but not as evil as the real predator that he kills later in the film. I felt the most sorry for the mother who was caught in the middle and wasnt able to save her daughter. If the girl wasnt so rebellious, spoiled and precocious she wouldve not approached Humpbert. True he was responsible for his reactions, but Lolita was hardly a helpless victum, she openly defied her mother. Lolita just annoyed me, clearly using him as he used her. It's a werid movie, not for everybody but not as disgusting as I was led to believe and hardly encouraging pedophilia. Rather it revealed something disturbing and complex, warning against forbidden fruit.

très fidèle au livre
interprétation parfaite de Jeremy Irons, l'histoire est bien reconstituée, film construit avec intelligence, la Lolita est crédible et la passion de Humbert Humbert tout à fait représentée
