Q: can you set the lights to stay on static mode as wells sound activated?

My unit appears to be on sound active mode all the time... I haven't played with it for too long so i still have yet to figure out all of the settings.

No, the Chauvet DJ Derby X does not include a remote.

Q: Approximately how many sq ft will one unit cover? I’m looking to instal some in a bowling alley.

Depends on how far away the unit is, the angle it's hitting the floor at, etc. - you're best off purchasing one to test yourself. I generally would not recommend this light because it's a little dated and lacks effect diversity, but it actually seems perfect for a bowling alley for those reasons and the effect it gives.
