Mothers California Gold Scratch Remover is formulated to remove scratches from glossy surfaces such as automotive paint. Chalkboards generally have a "flat" (not glossy) finish, and while Scratch Remover may remove the scratch, it would also likely create a shiny spot which might be more distracting than the scratch itself. In other words, I wouldn't recommend it.

Q: can i use it to remove scratches on handbag hardware?

Not certain it will work on a handbag unless it is metal but depending on the hardware you are referring too, it should as long as it is not a deep scratch. I use Mothers leather conditioner on my leather couches and handbags and it always does a great job. Thank you for your inquiry LodaedParts
