THIS GAME IS A BLAST!
I bought this blind since there were no reviews available at time of purchase - it did not disappoint. I love this game and it has become a family favorite! There are a couple of ways to play it. There is a quick game mode that involves ready made menus and takes around 5 minutes to complete a single menu item. This mode was great for family play with small kids. There is a regular game mode with almost board game rules - you land on squares that provide either coins (to buy a restaurant with penalties for any other player landing on it), sabotage points (allows interference with another chef's cooking) and so on. This can be played by winning a certain number of stars or laps around the board. It takes 30 minutes for the shortest game and much longer for other options. You need a wii remote for each player. You can play with up to 4 players with all kinds of combinations (2 players vs. 2 players, 3 vs. 1 and duel mode with everybody for themselves). You can unlock more menu items, etc. with high scores. There are four chef characters to choose from at the start (2 males and 2 females). The movements for cooking are explained and easy. A quick visual is even provided to help. In the crepe contest you have to shake your pan (wii remote) up and down as fast as you can to make your crepe go higher then your opponents. In the fondue contest, you need to stab a piece of bread when it fully materializes in the fondue pot. The smaller pieces are worth more points and 2 players can battle it out with their fondue sticks for those pieces of bread. Each food contest awards points based on your performance and the highest score at the end of the menu wins in the quick game mode.I highly recommend this game! It does not get old and is a blast for family wii night or with a group of friends. This game is worth the price.

Game Loads Slow
Purchased this game based on the other reviews but it turned out not to be as good as the other reviewers made it sound. My family might have played the game 4 times when we first got it. Since that time no one seems interested in playing it.The game only has 4 characters to choose from, which is no big deal. The multi-player board game seems to have only one map that you can play. It would have been nice if they had at least 2 or 3 to choose from. The worst thing about this game is the load time. It seems like you are spending more time waiting for the game to load than you are playing the game.

looks like good party game but way too slow to load
My family really wanted to play this game but didn't have the patience for all the time it took for the game to load between every little transition.

Better that I expected
I got this game over the holidays, and it turns out to be a LOT of fun for multiple players.Summary of what I think:Multiplayer: Good for 2 players if they're younger, good for 3 or 4 players if they're adults. the way that the action is set up, if you're playing 3 or 4 player, then the game will randomly assign whoever's turn it is an opponent. you don't get to all play at once, so for kids, the waiting for their turn takes the fun out of it a bit.Action, turns: The game is sort of like a board game, and the stretch between the actual cooking competitions is LONG, for some reason the game after each turn has EXTREMELY LONG loading time. This is the only Wii game I've had this happen on, don't know why it was programed like this. this is the only reason this game gets 4 out of 5 from me.Action, competition: This part of the game gets 5 starts, when you're competing against each other it is loads of fun, my 4 and 6 year old girls love it.Overall, this is a great game to get for 2 or more people for the price.

Its okay...
Being a food lover, I thought maybe I would enjoy playing a wii game with restaurant situations. This game isn't for people who are really knowledgable about food. It will bore you. Its a little like mario party with moving around the board. And then you play little mini games. BUT I LOVE MARIO PARTY!!!! Doesn't even compare. Its fun to sabatoge your opponents because its funny to see the result. But the game seems a little slow moving from turn to turn. takes to long to load for the scenes.

only for 2 to 4 players
first of all, how come you can not play a multiplayer game with one wii controller? I love playing cooking games especially if it is on the Nintendo Wii. I just got a Wii one month ago and I am hooked. Do you have to have two controllers to play the multilayer main game in cook wars? To me this game was a waste to buy, I payed $20.00 for this game it was not a bad price, but until I buy a new Wii controller this game is worthless.Does anybody have any ideas on what to do? How come Amazon did not put in their description of the game that you might need more than one wii controller to play the multiplayer main game in cook wars?
