No; my WUSTHOF 1040330120 Classic did not have a sleeve. It came in a cardboard and plastic box.

I bought 2 of them off Amazon after the Wusthoff web site told me that they were sold out. Only took 2 days to be delivered to my home.

Carbon steel is high in carbon that when exposed to moisture can corrode and rust quickly. Carbon Steel is stronger and more durable then stainless steel.
