Cuts quick. Just overall great sharpening tool.

This has been a quality stone. If you are like me, It is difficult to decide what type of sharpening setup you are going to use with hand tools if you are just getting into it with little to know knowledge to pull from. The diamond system is what I landed on. So I can't compare to Arkansas stones/whetstones at the moment. I can say I find these very useful when sharpening chisels in particular. I don't love sharpening my plane irons on them, but I do. The stone is not wide enough to work the plane irons straight on, so I have to skew my blade to hone wider plane irons. For the record I am a hobbyist woodworker for sure, no expert here, I'm just here sharing my experience. The diamond stone could be considered "expensive" so it kind of stink to have to buy it, but if you are using hand tools, having a way to sharpen your tools should be placed as a higher priority than the tool itself. A dull blade is just plane not safe to use, and it doesn't work the way it should, which will make you stop working with hand tools all together. I would buy this again, and I would recommend it to a friend. Just know you will have to work a little harder to sharpen your plane irons. I use the 300 / 1000 combo and finish with a leather strop. Probably not the sharpest tool, but that gets the job done for me.
