Awesome Retro Original Wooden Slides!
I love these Dr. Scholl's, but I only like the wooden slides, not the faux wood - so these are perfect! Note - the band is suede, which is a little strange with this being a summer shoe, but just note this. I have the yellow ones which sold out at a lower price, and thank goodness, because these are overpriced. Be careful with these, the platform is higher than you think, so it's easy to turn your ankle if you're not careful. Perfectly crafted and molded to the foot, and the quality is 5 stars - no issues with this sandal! I wish the wooden ones were easier to get, maybe in a few years!

Favorite summer sandal--still available
It doesn't have the large toe grip (bump) like it did in the 70s which was comfortable for me, because I got used to it, but it's still a comfortable sandal. I find myself trying to grip with my toes, but I can get used to these, they're still very comfortable and I love wooden shoes. The only unusual thing about these is that I cannot open the slide buckle. I don't need to now, but when they get older and looser, I'd want to be able to tighten the strap. Maybe it's because they're new, so after they're broken in, I can keep trying to open the buckle. The color and fit are just as pictured and true to size, I'd get them in more colors if I could.

Sadly not like the ORIGINAL
The picture looks the same but as others have said and I had to find out for myself, that's where the similarity ends. I can forgive the company that is making them for raising the price, after all it has been like 40 years since I bought my first pair, BUT the insole does not have the contour of the original and as for the adjustment strap, settings are too big OR too small. Maybe if the contour was correct the too big setting would work. I really wish these were the original shape and fit. I found it difficult to answer the "How does the product fit" question above so I chose too small. The foot size part seems true to size (i.e. size 8) but without the contour and the strap fit they are useless. So sad, I really wanted them to work.

Not the Originals, but not bad...
I'm with others who've noted that the grip part that used to be there in the toe part of the shoe is missing and so the shoe is not as comfortable as it used to be. Why it was changed is a complete mystery to me but it was a huge mistake. The shoe runs true to size I wear the same size 7 that I wore in 1974 when I got my first pair of the actual originals. They still look the same and feel good, but not as good. They are not the Originals as they are described as being, but if you loved them back then they are still fun to have. The colors are nice and the shoe is very well made. I glad I bought them.

am very happy to be hearing that sound once again
These are very close to the original Dr. Scholl's sandals which I wore back in the early 80's. They are made of real wood and real leather. The very bottom sole is vinyl/rubbery material. The leather uppers appear to be screwed into the wood. The clasps lift up (instead of sliding) to adjust width. The smooth wood finish where the bottom of the foot touches has shape to it, but it is less than my original sandals had. I agree with another person's review that the "ridge" under the toe area is much less pronounced. The entire sculpting on the wood surface seems different to me, but is not altogether disagreeable. To people who are unfamiliar with this shoe, take note that the wooden sole does not bend or flex. This is not necessarily a problem, but it makes for a sound of "thunk, slap" as the shoe hits the floor, then lifts up to meet your foot. I, myself, am very happy to be hearing that sound once again. :) I wore my originals for about two decades. I don't ever remember getting rid of them. The rubber/vinyl sole wore off the heel, the wood chipped and cracked slightly, the leather stretched, but I still wore them. I keep expecting to find my old ones stored away somewhere, waiting for more use, but after years of not finding them, I finally decided to try to find a replacement. These new shoes satisfy my longing.

Pretty sandal but no toe bump for toes to grab
There was no toe bump and a strange ridge running down the length of the platform. It is a strange arch support that runs down the ball of the foot and between the big toe and the second toe. Wish they would go back to the 70's version that mirrored walking in sand on the beach. I could work in those standing for 10 hours. I have to switch out of these after 1 hour. Love the strap though and hoping there is some benifit to this new design. Wish I still had my old ones, lost them in a move last fall. The foot bed is also narrower than the footbed of the classic sandal I bought 2 years ago which may account for the odd feeling of the vertical ridge. Hoping they develop a better foot bed or go back to the real original I loved.

What size?
I purchased these original Dr. Scholl's sandal in my usual size 6. They were comfortable but I felt I would be more comfortable in a 6.5, so I returned the 6 only to find they are only sold in whole sizes. I decided to buy the size 7 which was the wrong decision-they felt too loose. Thinking back I should have known the size 6 would stretch a little with some wear, but, after returning the second pair I tried to buy another 6. Unfortunately they were all sold out! I was devastated, I loved these shoes when I was younger and I really wanted them again. I keep looking on every website, but to no avail. I do not think there is a white pair (size 6) to be found. I had them in my hand and then I let them go-no one to blame but myself!!!!!

Better than ever!
I was hesitant to buy these sandals because of negative reviews I read online regarding changes to the original design. But I'm glad I threw caution to the wind and ordered them in "Camelot" tan. Scholl's has modified the platform part of the shoe, but according to my feet, they're better than ever. Unlike previous Scholl's I've owned, these needed no breaking-in period, didn't hurt the top of my feet. The color also has been improved and is a truly attractive saddle tan. One word of warning: these sandals do not come in half sizes. I ordered a size up, but had to return for a size down. Amazon made all of that quick and easy; the return did not cost me anything since I was able to print out a UPS label, send it that way.
