Good breakdown of applying statistics to excel and SPSS software

Are you in a DNP program? This was the required textbook for my DNP 816 course. It is actually an easy ready and helps to simplify some concepts. If you have to take a doctorate level statistics course, this is an excellent resource. It’s not quite Polit & Beck (if you know, you know), which is very detailed- but it is readable and understandable! If this isn’t your “required” book, let me at least recommend having it in your DNP arsenal.

It doesn’t always explain concepts the best and there’s no answer key to the practice questions within the book.

If I could give this book less than one star I would. I bought this book for a class and all I can say is thankfully it was not the only book we used. It wastes page after page explaining how to calculate a statistic in EXCEL or SPSS….something easily found online or in books dedicated to EXCEL or SPSS. Those pages could have been put to a more productive use explaining more about the statistics themselves. The authors start out saying they are not writing the book so that the reader will be able to compute the stats but rather do that the reader can better understand the results….they needed to put more effort into this. Once this class is over this book goes to the junk pile where it belongs!!
