Bought this for my second set of locks. Works great though I would say the wax is wholly unnecessary for locking your hair. The spray is really all you need to apply to get it to lock up faster and no sticky gross feeling on your fingers or hair! The shampoo is ok and the bands are perfect.

Sad they sell you dreads
Dreadhead HQ products are a rip off. Wax is disgusting, their shampoo is just a bulk shampoo base, and their customer service is a joke. Their tools are about the only thing worth a darn.

Unsatisfactory
About the only useful things in here are the comb and rubber bands. The wax has quite an unpleasant, sickly-sweet smell to it, and the locking accelerator can be easily substituted with salt water that will work just as effectively. A mistake for a first-time "dreader".

Do it up right!
By the time you go out buy inferior waxes, combs, rubber bands, and a bunch of other crap, find a friend who has never even heard of dreadlocks to help you start yours...get where I'm going with this? Dreadlocks can either be done wrong or right, and please, do them right. This hairstyle doesn't need any more damage done to its reputation by idiots. These kits are great, they have everything you need. No element is missing and it will make the whole process easier. Even people who have had dreads before and know the drill use these kits. They are used in salons that do dreads. A kit like this is going to make your dreadlock experience so much more fun and reduce the work and hassle because dreads actually require a large amount of care. I honestly prefer Dread Head HQ. Knotty Boy, etc. whatever you use is fine, there is no major reason I like Dread Head HQ better, I just know they really put devotion into their products to help customers have nice, healthy locks.I have done dreads 3 times. Twice I didn't use a kit, just things you can pick up at Wal-Mart and Sally's and it was a fail. Third time I bought Dread Head products and it made everything go smoothly. Do yourself a favor, take your hair serious, and pick up one of these kits if you're going for dreads.

most products okay, not totally convinced on wax.
Despite the description, this kit didn't come with any instructions. I did notice they sell the same kit on their site, sans instruction book, which you can purchase separately for 50 cents. Seriously?Anyhow, after doing a little research, it seems alot of dreadheads are against using wax. This is an ongoing debate, but in the end I decided against it. For one thing, I don't want slimy pillows, or wax flaking off everywhere. It just doesn't seem natural to me, and IMO goes against the whole idea of dreadlocks to begin with.I did use everything else, and really like the lock accelerator. It seems to do a pretty good job of speeding up the process. A few sprays in the morning calm down my bed head before going out, and it does a great job of keeping dreads in check while they mature. The shampoo is nice as well.

There were some things in this kit that were nice to have getting started (bands and comb) but really ...
I fell for the, "need" for a kit. my last dreads were all natural. There were some things in this kit that were nice to have getting started (bands and comb) but really you can go ot a store and pay $5 for all that you need. don't be a sucker.
