Okay, this is not a spy device. I didn't even think about getting it to record a gaslighting boss at work because this is not a spy device -- that use is clearly discouraged in the instructions. But the thing about emotional conversations with an awkward person is that the intensity of emotion affects your memory. Wouldn't it be interesting if you had something, a device, which wasn't your memory to remember details accurately?NOTE -- Pros and Cons1) IF you are recording hours of audio at a time, (e.g. you set this device to record in a room all day), THEN you are really going to benefit from knowing how to load the audio files into audio editing software. This will allow you to grab the 15 minutes you want from 8 hours of dull recording. It's easy when you know how. It takes about 20 minutes to learn how to use a free program like Audacity.2) If you don't want to learn how to use an audio editor then just say to the person, "wait two ticks while I switch this secret recorder on."3) The audio quality of this device is seriously impressive. You can hear detail about 30m away.4) As with ANY recording device, background noise will seriously interfere with detail. (a) that's why spies in movies turn the water tap on; (b) in a supermarket I lost the detail of the cashier as the announcements came over the Tannoy.5) The device option of voice controlled recording is not really functional. True voice control stops the recording function, and starts it again when speech is detected. This device does not appear to do that as far as I can tell. Instead, it applies a noise gate to a constant recording. There is no point in doing this because your file size is unchanged., and what I noticed is that you lose data below the gate cutoff.VERDICT: Brilliant audio recorder with excellent sensitivity. I attach it to my belt and let it record all day. You DO need to know how to use audio editing software to cut what you need from large audio files. This is not difficult if you learn how to do this from YouTube videos for REAPER or Audacity or any other audio editing program you prefer.

Excellent product that is robust and reliable. Captures all of my meetings each day and allows for easy storage on my computer. I would highly recommend this product.

This product was a good purchase. Instructions were easy to follow but the issue was that once I uploaded files. It would not allow me to delete them. Hence the 4 star. On manual said that you can delete via the +- key on headphone if I remember correctly but couldn't do this. It might just be me, otherwise the sound is clear. You have to place it in the room you want to record in.

I purchased this to use it as voice recording device that can be placed somewhere and while in general it works very well, the sound quality and far less sensitivity as it states to have lets it down.The Good:- Device is very small and can be used on a keychain and is absolutely not distinguishable as a recording device ( for those who need that )- Case is out of metal and is very sturdy- Super easy to use with just 1 on/off switch- Easy Setup with just a text file on the recording deviceThe Bad:- While setup is fairly easy, the instructions can be confusing- Set parameters do not always work, tested with set gain to 0 and to 5 and the gain was the same shown in premiere when testing it.- Micro USB charging, we in 2022, there is no excuse anymore to not use USB-C- Voice activation does not always workThe Ugly:- Sound quality is not great, regardless if you set it to 192khz or 384khz, there is no noticeable difference in quality- Sensitivity of recordings by FAR not as good as described in the product. Tested it in a bag that was open and compared it to a standard camera microphone ( rode ) and you barely could here anything, even with gain at highest level- Using highest level of gain results in audio distortion.So overall, to put it somewhere in a meeting room to record a meeting might work but in the tests I did, it is far to unreliable in recording and quality to seriously use it for important purposes.

It stooped working somehow, it is faulty and is not working bad product now is not letting me get a refund

I was completely amazed at the quality for the price - it picked up so much and very clearly. I'm very happy with my purchase and it helped me prove my cheating husband had been feeding me lie after lie as well as proving that I wasn't going mad like he was telling me I was. Invaluable.

This little recorder is brilliant, but as others have said, you need a computer/laptop to change the settings. However, you don't need the computer to listen back to what you have recorded as a charger cable and earphones come with the recorder.I found it to be very sensitive and picked up every sound (including the traffic outside). It certainly worked for what I needed it for.

This is brilliant, made my life a lot easier i don't have to write everything down. I love it
