It's very well made! The glazing on the outside is perfect.There is an bare spot on the bottom and a small bit inside you can take note of.These spots effect absolutely nothing. At least I've not noticed any problems.As with any lamp it's best to put it on a small dish to catch any leakage. It does not leak much and is perfectly normal. To not opt out of this product just because you're worried about leaks. It's fine!DO NOT USE STANDARD LAMP OIL LIKE KEROSENE ON CLAY LAMPS!That is unless you want it to turn into a little campfire.It's also very durable!While I was away one of my cats knocked it off a fairly high table. Abt 3-4 feet.On its way down it hit the wooden arm of a chair then smacked onto some thin carpet.I was absolutely terrified!Then to my relief there wasn't any damage to it.Or at the very least none I could notice or have noticed since.On another note, this us just my personal preference but I really like the odd imperfections that come from handmade products such as this.The slightly off handle, the bald spot on the inside, and the tiny pebble that juts out slightly on the right side that I've decided to name Henry.These little imperfections make feel feel closer to the work. It's a reminder it was made by another human being. Call it the mark of the maker if you will.It's not perfect and that's exactly what makes it perfect.My only complaint is the wick it comes with.I don't know why it's waxed. It makes it very difficult to wet and is so thin it falls in and goes out when it gets low.Which I guess one could say is a safety feature.What I did is I decided to make my own wicks out if 100% cotton thread.There are 2 ways I like to use and I'll describe them here.For 1 thread take the thread and fold it in half.Then start twisting it ALOT and if it start to twist into itself pull it apart. Do not undo your twists!Fold the twisted thread onto itself and let it twist into itself now and tie it on the end.Feel free to do another twist and fold before you tie it until you have your desired thickness.For two strings like the one in my picture take 2 threads and put them on top of each other and twist them. Unlike with 1 thread we don't fold before the first twisting.When you have it we'll twisted it let it twist into itself then you can choose to either tie it off or twist it again if you want it thicker.The ones you see in the image are thick!If you found my explanation unhelpful there are YouTube videos that you can find.I am not responsible for any wick related injuries!I feel like that needs to be said.

Nicely made. It is fairly small and the provided wick didn’t work well (for me). I swapped the provided wick with jute twine and it burned for hours.

Purchased this and another style lamp for use in a Creche scene. This lamp is unglazed terra cotta and while authentic and functional, the porosity of the fired clay allows oil to seep through the lamp. As a test, I first tried a kerosene-based lamp oil with a broader wick. Quite the robust flame from that set-up! Too much, as the oil wicking through the lamp caught fire, engulfing the lamp in flame. Emptied the lamp and allowed the oil to burn off out of the clay. Next test was with EVOO and broad wick. Much better. Low, even-burning flame and little seepage. Got nice complements about period-correct lamp.

Perfect little hand size lamp. Can imagine this being the same look as ones carried in ancient times. Excellent for object lesson for church

The lamp is beautiful and functional. The only thing I am not happy with is that the oil leaks out at the bottom pretty quickly. I did put a saucer underneath it, and that was helpful. I wish I new a way to leak-proof the bottom. :)

Laughably small. It’s only about 5” from handle to tip, leaks surprisingly fast. Wick it comes with is entirely worthless and I haven’t been able to find a combination of wick/oil that actually holds a flame. In my experience it’s not at all accurate.

Ordered the product to include in a meat and cheese spread and couldn’t be more pleased with how it created a warm and inviting atmosphere to my spread. Great quality and charming glow. The one complaint I will add is that I find the cotton wick included has a hard time holding a steady flame. But the vessel itself is very well made and feels old. Very pleased with my purchase.
