Q: do these starters work with sr20det from the avenir (fwd)?

NO - SR20 fwd and rwd starters are not the same. This is for REAR wheel drive applications. With the SR20 RWD engine the starter mounts to the transmission not the engine block.

Q: Does the starter need to have a open rectangular hole next the black taping??

Q: Are these only for the ones with sr20s? will it work with ka24de?

I am not sure cause I didn't try with KA24DE. You'd better to ask to Mishimoto. Anyway, I am satisfied with the quality of it. Working well with my SR20DET. If this fit your KA24DE, I recommend this.
