Sony DVP-FX750 7-Inch Portable DVD Player, Black (2010 Model)

We purchased this as a travel DVD player for my 3 year old son. We bring it everywhere because we have long commutes and he's with us. It gets thrown into backpacks, into the car, man-handled by a 3 year old, and still plays perfectly fine. We've had ours for over a year now. The battery can last for several hours after a full charge. We probably charge it every other day, with daily use. It also comes with a car charger. Just a note - if you are using the DVD player while it is plugged in, it will not charge. It will only charge if the DVD player is off. Otherwise, it's easy to use, and for the size of the DVD player, the sound and picture quality are both appropriate. Great little DVD player for what we need it for.

Didn't want to watch movies on the go with a big laptop so got this little player. Been enjoying it about 5 months now and have watched lots of DVDs on it. Picture is excellent and the sound through headphones or quality earbuds is outstanding. Sound through onboard speakers is rather small but adequate in a quiet environment. I like most of the controls. I think the visual search buttons should have been better noted. Even a double arrow on them would indicate what the rocking type button is supposed to do. Battery life is decent. I kind of wish the battery was removeable so I could carry a spare like I used to do with my old Panasonic portable. Overall, I'm happy with this one. It has performed quite well and I think it will hold up for years to come.

The Sony DVP-FX750 portable DVD player stopped working within 60 days of purchase. It simply stopped playing DVDs.As a side note, I purchased the Square Trade extended warranty, and this proved to be absolutely useless. I paid them to protect my product, and they told me to contact Sony. I spent 20 minutes on the phone with Sony. The end result is that I am out of pocket $15 to ship the DVD player back to Sony. (Sony would not cover this cost.) I'm also out the money that I paid to Square Trade. It's ridiculous.

I am very impressed with this DVD player which also plays CD's. I especially like the remote control, which allows me to replay parts. I am using the DVD player to learn a foreign language and it is really important that I am able to pause and replay short portions to hear it spoken again, without having to fiddle with buttons on the actual player. I also like this players compact size. In short I am very satisfied with the player as a whole and the quality of the image on the player is excellent. The only thing that would make this player perfect is a faster recharger or a longer playing battery. It plays for about 3 hours, but needs that much time to recharge as well. In spite of the battery, I would still recommend this player.

I bought 3 of these players, one of reach of my 3 daughters for a long road trip. Years ago I bought one of those dual screen car dvd players that you can have a single dvd play on both screens. I forget the brand, but it was a well known common brand. It started acting up within 6 months, stopped playing dvds after a year. Plus, it just felt cheap. For the next road trip I decided on a different strategy and purchased 3 of these which came to about the same price as some of those dual screen players. We're 2 years in and not a single problem with any of them! We've gone on several road trips and they've stood up very well through minor drops, bumps, etc.Features I love:- Dual headset outputs. If 2 of my kids want to watch the same dvd, I just have them sit next to each other and they have no issues. Plus I bought child headsets so I don't have to listen to Disney princess movies the whole ride!- Power! It comes with an A/C adapter for the car AND a standard wall plug AND it holds a charge of about 4 hours or so (I've never really tested it, but they can usually get through 2 movies at least). I usually charge them all up the night before a trip, then let them watch in the car and plug at least one up in the van while we're driving (depending on who sits in a seat close to the power plug). Then if one runs out of juice, I just swap them. Basically I've never had issues where they're all dead at the same time. Power just isn't a issue for us with these players.- Fairly simple controls, even for kids. Only my 4 year old still needs some help, my other 2, ages 5 and 6, do not.- Loud volume. If they don't want to use the headsets for whatever reason, they can watch without them even in a not-so-quiet car and they can hear fine. Of course, with 3 kids, we can't have all 3 listening to them without headsets at the same time, but it's nice as an option and has come in handy when one child is sick of the headphones.- Durability! They have held up fairly well and they just feel durable and solid. I'm pretty sure they can take a fair amount of abuse.- Bright screenI know you can get players with larger screens, but I don't see how younger children would care. My 3 kids have never complained about it. I could see potentially older children wanting larger a larger screen, but my kids just want their movie!

I got the first of this model during a Black Friday sale years ago. Mainly got it to keep my kid entertained. It's Sony and it was an awesome price. Two plus years later, it fell victim to all the abuse. When I was looking to get a replacement, I found this to be the best value. Other not-so-reliable brands cost more or had more negative reviews than I cared for. I like the multiple ports for the ear phones so that two kids can watch and listen quietly to the same movie. I like the remote control and the car charger that comes with it. Very convenient. Comes with the wall charger too. Battery life is average I suppose. Can watch a full movie and still have some battery left to watch maybe the special features. But cannot watch two movies back to back without fear of the battery going dead. It plays music CDs too so you can listen to music with it. Overall... I was happy enough with my first purchase to choose to buy the same model as a replacement.
