Q: Can the seat be lifted for cleaning underneath without having to unbolt it from the original toilet seat/lid?

The riser bolts down to the toilet using bolts that pass through to also mount the toilet seat. So, the riser stays securely in place when you raise the seat (just like it's part of the toilet bowl). However, the riser can not be raised for cleaning under the riser without unbolting it.

With the hardware that comes with the product you can secure the riser to a elongated commode. typically the existing seat and lid sit on top of the riser and the hardware that comes with the riser holds it all in place.

If your patient is leaning over to one side often it can cause the bolt on that side to loosen slightly. Also if the bolts aren't tightened properly.
