Helped my dyslexic child
Love, love, love these flashcards! I have been using the Barton Reading and Spelling System for about a year now and the format for spelling didn't work for my dyslexic child. As soon as I began using the I See, I Spell, I Learn flashcards my daughter excelled with her spelling. So refreshing. Now that she is onto a new level in Barton, we have some new sight words to work on and sad that there not more!

Waste of money- Recommendation in review
I purchased these as I was beginning my teaching career thinking, as the product description claims, that sight words cannot be sounded out and that dyslexic students need picture clues to learn them. This is flat out false. There are very few sight words that cannot be learned phonetically (eg. of, one) nearly every word in this pack can be sounded out when children are taught phonics patterns. The few words that have more rare spellings usually only have one tricky letter (eg. was) can be taught as exceptions to the rule (which makes them memorable). Do yourself and your child a favor and do not try to teach them to memorize words based on pictures within the letters, teach them the sounds associated with the spelling patterns. Get a product that actually explains the phonics rules and practice! After this product (and other sight memory products) failed me and I learned more about the root causes of word learning difficulties, I purchased Sounding Out the Sight Words: A Guide to Teaching the Dolch Words through Phonics. It is an excellent resource that is based on current research and is easy to use even if YOU donāt know the advanced phonics patterns. This is not a paid review, I am a first grade teacher )I have taught upper elementary as well).

Helpful?
I received these for my First Grade ESL class to learn sight words. Because some of my students come to me knowing very little English, it was difficult for them to use these cards because the print ont them was small and there was a lot of reading.

I think they were too expensive. I could have purchased something similar for a much lower price.
