I’m going to be short here. These knives cut. I would recommend that to any new Whittler - pick one or two high quality cutters, and even though they cost more, they will give you true joy when you do your cuts. Another good brand is Flexcut, which goes through cuts like butter (relatively speaking). One of the differences between cheaper cutters and more expensive ones is the cheaper ones don’t sharpen well, nor do they stay sharp. Better ones sharpen better, stay that way longer, and help make the hard cuts easier.

Loved that it included all types of starter blades but the kit kit that I received every single blade was dull and I had to sharpen before I could use. All in all a good bargain.

Great carving kit! Very sharp materials, soft wood. I made a little wood rat. Soon, I will have a rat army, to take over the world.

The media could not be loaded. Loved the knives in the kit, all very sharp!! Very easy to cut the wood, sharpen the knives, cut some detail & make your project awesome but the gloves are TERRIBLE. I first bought this and carved for a few hours with delight! The next day I cut my finger so bad it wouldn’t stop bleeding. I learned my lesson and decided to wear the gloves, giving them a quick cut test to see how they worked. A few carving sessions later and I cut myself straight through the glove, no stabbing, a slice. This is the main thing it is meant to protect from and it went straight through the glove, and my palm. Buy real gloves and this kit is awesome!

These are made wonderful. They are VERY sharp. I got it for my son. He has used it lots and still like new.

Hey! This is a great little set for someone wanting to see if it’s fun enough to try it while long enough to keep gaining skill. And it’s an honest cost, bang-for-your-buck, presentable/giftable kit. The company tactfully considers that this may not be anything but a delightfully whimsical kit enjoyed to its completion and nothing more. be a continued endeavor for only time the person does this type of craft again, and in making it sweet. And yet, nice enough to come along with someone that tries this and wants to try their hand at a few other pieces of wood beyond the kit, but not ready to upgrade or buy into more than what’s in the kit. Seems win-win!
