The Wylie and Balmer estates should sue over this travesty
It only gets 1 star because you can't give 0.This product purports to be "When Worlds Collide Book 3". It's extremely poorly written and researched, as the author gets nearly EVERYTHING wrong about the events of "After Worlds Collide". Even the city that is the focal point of the story is mis-spelled from the AWC information for the entire book. The defeat of the other force in AWC is attributed to someone who wasn't even there. And, the last chapter of AWC where the orbit of Beta is CONFIRMED is ignored as well.As part of the extremely amateur hour plot, EVERYTHING known about the world from the earlier works is rewritten. The previous inhabitants go from being human in size and form to being 12 foot tall tentacled telepathic monk amphibians (no explanation on how the humans could even fit in their vehicles). Beta goes from being a natural moon to an artificial one, built specifically for the trip across the void of space, with there suddenly being dozens of cities, not the five known from AWC (and whose DESIGNER left his notes - Helms tried to rewrite him as a lunatic exile on an another world unrelated to the project, despite the cities HAVING STATUES OF THE MAN at their gates!). And the ancients go from being a long-peaceful society that NEVER had space travel to one with space battleships and power armor. And, while the effort to include thousands of more humans making the crossing using chemical rockets, the math and science is so badly flawed that the "atomic rockets" of the original make FAR more sense than this work, which had the WWW to research the information, since the book was written in the first decade of the 21st century. The author also claims to have researched the original books for years. Sorry, that's a lie. He couldn't have written this piece of offal so badly if he had. At BEST, he had to be going off a POORLY written extract full of errors to get SO MUCH WRONG.I've seen cringeworthy self-insert anime slash-fics that were better plotted than this dungheap.WWC & AWC were remarkably prescient for their time. This book makes Chuck Tingle look like Shakespeare.

I did enjoy certain aspects of the story and cared enough about ...
I did not realize when I ordered it that it was a fan fiction sequel to After Worlds Collide. I did enjoy certain aspects of the story and cared enough about the characters and plot to finish reading it. But this seemed like a self published book filled with typos that need correcting and other helpful suggestions from a professional editor, (like unnecessary paragraphs that made the story feel redundant at times). I think with some helpful insights and better editing it would have been an excellent book. I thought the plot was worthy of the series though, so good job.

Terrificly Written
When Worlds Collide (Bison Frontiers of Imagination)When Worlds Collide and After Worlds Collide were written, they were great stories but left one rather hanging at the end. The Terrans of Beta continues the story to a better conclusion while providing great insight to details from language to the sciences involved in such a tale. How did aliens over a million years old live, eat, work? What kinds of vehicles, aircraft, weapons did they have? What kind of plant life was there? How would you figure out their language? Did they have written records? Were they war like? How do you find edible food on an unknown world? What type of shelter would be found?Reading this third and final book to this series is gripping to the end. I was intrigued with the diversity of thought it took to accomplish this story.Start with reading (or re-reading) When Worlds Collide, which includes the second book, After Worlds Collide, then get set to be entertained.Cons: There are numerous typos in this printing, but they are easily overlooked.Enjoy!!

The Terrans of Beta
Good followup to the original two books in the series. Would recommend it to anyone that enjoys old fashioned science fiction. You need to read When Worlds Collide and After Worlds Collide to get the entire scope of the journey. They are usually printed in one large volume. Excellent reading.

A Poor Followup to the First Two
I was pleasantly surprised to see there was a third book in the "When Worlds Collide" series.....the book and its sequel were fantastic and I rather liked the movie. I wanted to see what happens next. The first half, two-thirds of the book is very good. Starting with rescuing another ship that had fled the Earth (so perhaps only a month or so since the second book) with a lot of excellent back-and-forth about the strangeness of the alien technology (see the second book) there's a lot of talk about figuring out of Beta is going to settle into a stable orbit or not, exploring the cities, etc. And THEN......it all gets increasingly wonky about two thirds of the way in.....and honestly it wasn't very good.VERY mixed in my opinion. The first two thirds of the book worked well enough, but once the aliens and the various other complications showed up (can't be very specific without spoilers) it goes downhill fast. Honestly you can just completely forget this book and just remember the first two original ones....you'll be happier, believe me.....I would only recommend this to the MOST die-hard of science fiction fans, and even then....know what you're getting.....

Great old SF story
A number of the references are dated but still an excellent read!

Battlefield Beta?
I enjoyed the ? conclusion of the story but i did find it a little complex with all the various sub-headings, charactors and evolution of the story. In fact I thought I was re-reading hubbards, battlefield earth, hence the title. For those who have read the story so far must be prepared for a different kind of story direction and stick with the charectors.

Space opera, not a sequel
The author borrows some characters and locations from the second book and spins them into a different direction entirely: Interplanetary warfare. The book had some enjoyable moments, but drops the themes of the first two books in favour of standard space opera shenanigans. So not a true continuation. Also, as several reviewers have noted, this book seriously needed a competent editor. There are speeches that span pages, cramming long history into lectures. Ugh.

a poor book to end the saga
The first two books were great if dated, this one not much, especially with the continuity issues.
