This ENERLITES plug & receptacle are very well made, of highest quality. I purchased this pair to fix my son's extension code, which I inadvertently severed when cutting the grass. Now he has two very nice extension cords, one short and one long. On each connector there are 3 screws that fasten the faceplate to the body and 2 screws on the clamp around the insulated cable. On the plug, these 5 screws are very similar, but they are not interchangeable. Don't get them mixed up as I did. Any of them work on the faceplate, but only the correct ones work on the clamp.

These work fine, but the metal connectors on the female side could be a bit better quality.

Just installed the connectors on a 15' flat extension cord with bad ends. The process was routine, make sure you strip the ends just long enough to slide under the tabs and avoid exposed bare wires, tighten the screws then bend the wire back and forth about 3 times and tighten the screw again, repeat 2-3 times on all connections. If you don't do this the braided wire will loosen up on you. I forgot, when you strip the braided wire if you accidentally cut off a few strands, cut it off completely and do it again - yes it does matter when carrying maximum amps. The female connector is polarized so you want to match polarity and ground at both ends of the extension, this is very easy to do with color coded wires, but you may need an ohm meter to be sure with a cable like mine where all three conductors are the same color. I own several outlet testers so before putting a load on the renewed extension cord I plugged it into the wall outlet and plugged in an outlet tester ($6-$8) to the other end and it will show you got it right. One bad, the female end does not hold very tight so if you are going to use it by dragging it all over the place just tie the ends and you will be fine. I was talking to my wife one day and it was somehow decided it was much more cost effective to make our own shredded cheese. So in the same vein, I needed an extension cord. So I ordered this thinking how much I could save making my own cords. In hindsight. Did you know a screwdriver in the wrong hands can cause injury? Did you also know that electricity in the hands of an idiot can also create problems with health as well? Once I stopped the bleeding from the puncture wound in my palm and completing the cord construction. I wedged myself between the work bench and the beer fridge in my garage to plug in my new, custom-made cord. It wasn't so much the charge of electricity that his my body. But the jerking convulsions of the body spasm cause my hard to collide with the shelf above the bench and the seizure to knock over the beer fridge. The loss of the cheap beer supply for my guest, although tragic it could have been so much worse. TO my lovely wife's credit. She did see the lights flicker and the sound of me squealing like a small child came to render assistance. As we all know.. Her "Are You Okay?" as I lay writhing and smoldering on the floor saved the day. In the end. This product is fabulous.. As long as it's in the right hands.
