Q: Can the basket, lid and tank be washed in the dishwasher? Also, can you use the lid during cooking to stop oil splatter?

The tank, and the basket seem to do well in the dishwasher. I have not placed the lid in the dishwasher because it seems to do well with just wiping with warm soapy water. DO not use the lid during cooking! This is a deep fryer and any use of a lid may introduce water from steam to the oil causing a boil over of oil.

Q: Is this a good deep fryer? Reviews are confusing, but this seems to be the best choice deep fryer on amazon.

I have not had any problem with mine. It works great.

Q: Does this have a drain that you can put a jug under to save the oil for the next use?

Nope! No drain needed! Just place the cover over the oil! For longer storage of the oil...or if it will be a long time before the next use. Just let the oil cool down, and empty pan of oil into a saving container. Then clean elements and pan in soapy water for the next time you are going to use it. Easy Peasy.
