These work just as good as the surge protectors. The plugs connect quickly to WiFi when plugged into power and maintain a solid WiFi connection. The plugs respond quickly respond to phone app controls. Within the app you can pull reports of runtime, power usage, etc. You can set schedules or timers on the plugs as well. Very very handy plugs and I definitely recommend.

With Belkin discontinuing support for WeMo Jan 2026, I converted all of my WeMo wall and light switches to Kasa. Kasa works reliably and is super easy to setup, program, and use. I just hope that Kasa will continue to support their product.

Setting up the Kasa Smart Plug Mini 15A was quick and effortless using the Kasa app. It connected without issues and has been working reliably ever since. I didn’t experience any Wi-Fi drops or lag, and it responds quickly to commands.Important Note for Sense Energy Monitor UsersOne thing to be aware of—this model does NOT work with the Sense Energy Monitor. If you’re looking for a Kasa plug that integrates with Sense, you’ll need the KP115 or KP125 instead, as those models include energy monitoring. I found this out after buying it, so that’s something to keep in mind.Final ThoughtsIf you need a simple, reliable smart plug, this is a great choice. However, if you want energy monitoring or Sense compatibility, go for the KP115 or KP125 instead.

Edit: June 2025: Still using the same exact ones in June 2025. Only issue I have had happened like once or twice in 3 years; it would occasionally disconnect from Google Home.. but the Kasa app still had them listed and I was able to delete the app from Google Home, re-add the app, and viola, the items were re-added easily. Imagine having to do that.. but with 3-4 different smart plug apps… Yikes! I’m still happy about these plugs :)From April 2022 to July 2022, I bought 8 of the 2-packs because when I realized they were indeed so mini that I could plug two into an outlet, it won me over so hard. Now, I had other brands I was still using at the time but I switched 1/3 of the house to the mini plugs. But I've continuously having so much trouble with the "other brands" just randomly disconnecting (which I wanna say is normal as it's definitely not 100% perfect) and then I had to go on a hunt in my phone to figure out which app I used to connect them.But what I loved about Kasa brand/app is that they require you to use their app to hook up their items. I was annoyed about that at first because I had been using another app for everything but it has changed my mind to more positive thoughts now.When you connect in the Kasa app, you click the + sign and you choose which Kasa item you have. I click the mini smart plug choice and it does it's normal asking if it's been reset, blinking slowly or quickly, and my favorite part is it asks you to go to your wifi settings to connect to what I'm guessing is a signal from the plug.You still have to type in your 2.4ghz internet password at some point in the app and it takes a second, then it's done. Name it what you want, which room, etc. Then go to your smart device (for me, it's Google Home), and it should be appearing at the bottom in the "Not in Your Home" section and you can now add it to a room!I haven't hooked everything up completely yet but I'm happy that everything will be under one "roof" (under one app compared to 2-3 different ones) so if something fails, it'll be much easier to fix it!Definitely definitely recommend these! Plus, they are mini so you can put them both in an outlet or have one and be able to plug anything else in the vacant spot. Some of the older smart plugs were so big and round it made it almost impossible to plug other items since it would sometimes cover the other outlet spot.. but not anymore 😍
