Very durable use it every day, doesn't show sign of wear

How wide of a belt will it fit?

I wear a fireman's duty belt 1.5 inches and it fits that well.

What is the extra patch of hook Velcro meant to be used for?

As far as I know it's to keep it in place on an Velcro lined trouser belt. It also likes to hook nylon belts and leave wild hairs all over them.

will this work on a police duty belt?

yes, I am sure your duty belt is same in size as my military duty belt and the Keyper Pouch works perfectly. It has very strong lengthly velcro for most any size fitment and will stay in place. I wish these had been available when I was active LEO:). You will not regret..
