It works... Sort of!
I like this button switch so far! I bought it to use in Alexa routines. As others have said, Alexa recognizes these buttons as motion sensors! It stinks because you can't take advantage of the buttons on/off function, only motion detected or not detected! I already had a hub set up, so it was a breeze to add this switch in the Broadlink app. Alexa recognizes the four buttons right away HOWEVER you need to have the Alexa app rediscover these buttons! I wrote several routines in Alexa and none of them worked! I was so frustrated! As soon as I had Alexa discover devices again, even though it said no new devices found, all my routines worked perfectly!! Make sure you rediscover devices in Alexa app! I hope someday Broadlink and Alexa will work together to allow Alexa to see these buttons as on/off switches and not motion sensors. The switch is a real good value!

Game changer. Triggers Alexa Routines. Programming retained after hub unplugged for 15 minutes
BroadLink Smart ButtonUpdate- Docking one star. I have two of these smart buttons with two hubs. I have experienced spotty performance every couple of weeks and have resorted to rebooting the hub. I am still trying to determine the root cause of this. But proximity from button to hub is not the issue as they are in the same room. I am resorting to putting the hub on a timer so that it reboots once daily. Let's see if this resolves the problem.Update 2 - Rebooting timer is not the issue, it's the Broadlink architecture/servers? itself. I experienced extreme lag, sometimes up to 1 minute before the routine triggers after pressing the button. It's not my wifi or internet, but Broadlink itself. Triggering the routine on Alexa was quick when Broadlink was lagging. After a day or so, it resolves itself and works again. Until Broadlink app/ server is as stable as Alexa, Kasa, Switchbot, Tuyasmart etc, this is going to be a novelty at best. I mean who waits for a minute to turn off the lights.--------It was either this or YoLink's Flexfob. I have Yolink in my Smart ecosystem, it would have been easier for me to get that, but Broadlink's design is much better. I don't need a fob, I need a switch to mount on the wall, so that people can have the option to push a physical button and switch on my lights vs voice command. This one does it EXTREMELY WELL. Like every reviewer says, setup can be a hassle. I am going to roughly sum up the steps below. Why? Because if you have tons of smart lights and alexa and runs cool routines, you will want this. It's WORTH IT.For eg. I use the first Broadlink to set up: Living room lights ON, living room smart lights mood light (50% brightness in orange), living room in magenta, plays spotify playlist, living room lights OFF, music OFF.It's endless, with a push of a button, you can trigger a complex routine to play the morning news, weather, open curtains, start your coffee brew (if you have Switchbot button pusher), turn on Heater /AC at xx temp.Or how about, switch on all exterior lights, play "who let the dogs out" at max volume, all internal light bulbs switch to Red.I read that some reviewers had to redo programming after power outage. I wanted to test this myself. I switched off the hub for 15 minutes, then turn it back on. After a brief moment, my buttons are back up. I did not need to re-program. NICE.And lastly, as you can see on the pic, Mine came with a backplate that you can either screw in or mount with double sided tape.Get the hub version if you don't have broadlink hub. Then subsequent ones you can just get the regular one. Or an extra hub as spare. It's only a few bucks more.STEPS (as far as I can remember)Make sure VPN on your phone is OFF. You won't be able to scan for WIFI. Happened to me.1. Download Broadlink App. Sign up / Sign in.2. In App, click + sign. Add new device > Gateway > Smart Hub. Follow instructions.3. In App, click + sign. Add new device > Sensor > Smart Button. Follow instructions.4. In Alexa App, click on Skills and search for Broadlink. Install it. (It has the same B logo as the App). After that, search for devices. The buttons will show up as Motion sensors. Add them to Alexa.5. On the button page, click create routine. You can use an existing routine and modify the trigger (ie: Instead of voice triggering the routine, you trigger it by clicking the button) and voila. All done.

Doesn’t work
I bought this to trigger Alexa routines. It was a LONG frustrating process to set up originally and then it quit working within days and I haven’t been able to reconnect it for over a week. I am very comfortable setting up, using, and programming smart devices. The suggest method to set it up is my scanning a light gray QR code on a curve. The reader rarely if ever scans it. You’re better off typing the code from the box, but even then it won’t connect. The original time to connect took 50+ attempts and when it quickly quit working I’ve tried 75+ times and it’s not connecting. It’s nearly impossible to set up and then highly unreliable once synced.

Works okay, although setup is a huge hassle
IF YOU CAN'T GET THE BUTTONS TO ACTIVATE ALEXA ROUTINES DESPITE SETUP APPEARING SUCCESSFUL: Try unlinking the Broadlink skill from your Alexa app, then relink it AFTER you've fully setup all desired Smart Buttons on the Broadlink app. Repeat this if you add new Smart Buttons at a later date. With that out of the way, this Smart Button works great once it's fully set up. Each button can only do a single action, but at this price point ($16 as of writing for a button by itself without the hub, $20 with hub) that's fine. You can add an Alexa routine or an IFTTT routine per button, both seem to work fine.In regards to setup in Alexa specifically (which is going to be most people's use case), it's a huge hassle. In my case, any Smart Button I set up after the initial link would be detected, and the Alexa app would even show the button being pressed, but routines refused to activate no matter what I did. That's where my instructions at the top come in. It's extra confusing because it's possible for one Smart Button to work while another doesn't depending on when you last relinked the skill, in spite of the app acknowledging input. This was annoying enough to knock off a star.Note that the Alexa app itself treats each button as a motion sensor, where a button press is recognized as motion detected. As long as you know that you should be able to set routines up just fine.Overall, the buttons work great and reliably once fully setup. Unplugging the hub or replacing batteries in the smart button units themselves didn't affect anything; everything worked again just fine once the hub regained power or batteries were reinserted. If setup weren't such a hassle I'd give it 5 stars.EDITED TO ADD: I performed setup via an Android phone (for BroadLink app + Alexa routine configuration), connected the hub to a Wifi 6 Router (Asus AX11000, using the 2.4GHz band), and the buttons in my setup exclusively control Wifi-connected devices (Meross wifi-enabled smart bulbs and Gosund smart plugs). My home is also a single story with the hub centrally located to all buttons, so there are no major wall barriers or attenuation concerns. At most there are two walls between the hub and any given button. Your experience may vary depending on your overall equipment and use environment!EDIT 2: After experiencing my first power outage since setting this up, the buttons weren't behaving properly after power was restored. Some didn't work while others had extremely laggy responses. Ultimately I had to uninstall then reinstall every button, which screwed up the Alexa routines so I had to re-add the buttons to each routine, then unlink and relink the Broadlink skill to find everything. Once I did this everything worked again as expected. This is a MASSIVE hassle, albeit a rare one, so I'm knocking another star off. What a shame.
