how tall does this pant grow

I have one small patch that was here in my yard when we moved here and I just went out and measured them and they are 4 to 6 inches tall. They seen to spread quite well. In the 3 years we have been here they have gone from a few Square inches to an area about 16 inches in diameter. That was the reason I planted more. They are quite expensive at amazon and after hunting around I found a much better deal at Ebay.

For outdoor, how does it hold up in the winter. I live in southern Michigan?

I live in Tennessee and they come back every year.
