TL;DR - Easy to assemble, easy to clean, sturdy, cute. 10/10Very easy to assemble, though it can be pretty easy to make it harder on yourself if you mess up early on. I got the alignment wrong with some screws and had to go back a few steps to correct it, but nothing too difficult.It's easy to clean, but that depends largely on where you place it in your friend's/friends' cage. I placed mine fairly close to the top, so brushing off the top can be tricky, but that's my own fault. Pulling out the fleece blanket and shaking it off is easy no matter what.The thing is super sturdy. I accidentally stepped on it after I finished assembling it and it was totally unscathed.It's super cute, but my chinchilla Poe doesn't like sitting inside of it very much. He likes to sit on top of it, though, and there is evidence that he spends at least SOME time inside it when I'm not looking. Poe is a weird little guy and I'm just glad he interacts with it at all. I highly recommend it.

I’m so glad for the pictures in these reviews as it helped make my decision about the purchase, so I’m adding my own.My single girl (aggressive with others) is a large Guinea pig (14” long and almost 4lbs), and half of the things I buy for her are entirely too small. This is a perfect size! So much so, that I ordered the rectangular house and bridge connector (coming today) immediately after setting up the castle hay rack.This fits a 2x4 C&C cage (14” square grids) exactly at the length. The only thing I had to add were some adhesive Velcro dots on the top lining/roof because she was jumping off the top and skidding to the floor, so keep that in mind.As for the assembly: super easy. There were four or five screws in total that are easily tightened by hand with a Phillips screwdriver. The roof pops off and the dish is removable by itself to clean and you can fill the hay rack from there. The best part is that the assembly is a little customizable depending on which corner you decide to utilize. Just figure it all out before screwing everything down, and your gravy.The wood is also thick (maybe 1/4”), so it won’t degrade quickly, and can be cleaned with a stiff brush and towels/soap. You could even paint this wood easily, but keep in mind toxicity — it wouldn’t be wise on the corners especially. Maybe a wood burning project piece!

This castle is super sturdy and a great size for the price , I have two chinchillas and they fit inside happily with more than enough room for 3 more chinchillas to fit inside with them. It takes about about half of the bottom part of my cage without the ramp for animals to crawl up( chinchillas jump so they didn’t need it). It has this water proof top blanket piece that comes in handy because it’s easy to wash and easy to take off and put on HOWEVER as great it is for size it does have two downsidesFirst the castle is a sturdy wood castle which means if your pet is as clumsy as mine They all run around really fast and smack their face into it. One of my chinchillas loves to run and while running he smacked his face into the corner of a hard wood castle. His eye was swollen shit for four days. Don’t worry he didn’t need to see a vet and he’s fine now! But I would def be careful getting this for any pet that likes to run or if they’re clumsy like mine areThe second rough thing is the food bowl they gave with the castle sits under the floor of the top of it. Which is convenient for space but your pets will sit in it and pee and poop into it. So I just bought a bowl bigger than the hole and set it on top to avoid wasting their food.There’s one more issue but most small pet owners will have this issue so it didn’t really feel like a negative just a common sense thing. The top part has a water proof cover it which is easy to remove to wash HOWEVER it is easy to remove so your pets can slide it just by being on it so the top of your castle will get some pee or poop on it. I would recommend cleaning it often because the wood will soak in the urine and it’s hard to take the urine smell and the stain out of the wood roofAll and all I think it’s a great buy for the price though if this one gets broken I’d probably buy it again.
